    RIP...Legend.
Center figure in a steep skiing renaissance.
Thanks for the suggestion, just ordered it. And right when I was looking for a good book to bring on a river trip next week.

I read this entire thread the other day for the first time. Very moving and some great stories. RIP

I still wish it had more photos and more about the early days of heliskiing in Alaska.

You mean like skiing the Chugach on L with Chet flying Nam style in that putt putt two seater they started with?
Fuck yeah! No doubt TGR 420 is a supple repository of those early daze tales.
I assume he'll compose and tell that story sometime.

Pretty sure this is Coombs trying to save the gaper from certain carnage- to no avail.

Just finished. Would recommend. Never knew that him getting kicked off of JHMR was his onus to move to LaGrave.

That is awesome. 1997 skis. So Long and narrow.
And a pretty gnarly spring Corbett’s entrance.

    That's not Doug.

That dude was a schooler if I recall.
And in '97, DC was all K2 sponsored. Black 208 Missiles.
    Those are floppy fucking Elans.

Shitload of snow in there and a short goatpath to boot.

And in my experience he would have flat dogged that guy out. He didn't care for clucks in the cooler.

Ahh bummer. I got sucked into the video hoping to see Coombs send it.

But anyways. Glad to bump. In a spring skiing drought. In memory of an amazing skier.

Thank you for this, Dj --

I Hated to see this thread bumped - almost randomly - but I have gone back and read many pages of comments(,) and there is Comfort to me in the lives DC touched in such an almost exclusively Positive way (!)

I don't ever forget - and I look for one of these thread to be bumped each April...

in closing, it is my understanding the Doug Coombs Foundation - now, Coombs Outdoors - continues to introduce skiing and outdoor adventure to kids that would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience ,,, something that has brought (some of us) as much Joy and happiness as anything in Life...

    Thank you, Doug-

    Thank you, Emily...

    With great Respect. tj
