RIP, Doug. Our thoughts and prayers are with your wife, son and family.

A tragedy on so many levels.

Thanks, Bullet, for posting my favorite picture of Doug -- my heart races every time I see it.

when Trevor went, they mounted his ice axe on top of Blackcomb peak. perhaps a similar memorial could be established for Doug on one of his fav peaks.

    RIP

When i was about 10 and first started watching ski porn, the first video I ever say was of doug. He first showed me that there was so much area off the groomed runs, and I have never been the same skiier since that day. His death will rock this community for a long time to come.

HOLY SHIT! Just got home from a great day on the mountain and this was the first thread I came across. Chills down the spine. Doug was an amazing man, did some amazing things for the industry, and will never be forgotten. Wow. Truly a sad day. A great ski mountaineer, husband, and just an overall great person to be around. RIP.

Doug was a rockstar. In every single way. Killin it on the hill, livin the dream, knowing the mtns, etc. The MAN. This is seriously upsetting.

Blurred's comment rings true. This guy LIVED every minute of his life. More than most get in a lifetime. He lived all of our dream.

I hope he likes cheap beer, cause im having a few for him tonight.

    sad day in the tetons

i learned of doug just as i got into skiing early 90's . after i finished high school one of my older ski partners talked me into a trip out to jackson . this was the year he was asked to leave the resort for skiing some closed runs.i personally got my ass kicked by that mountain and i loved every second. i always dreamed of doing one of his steep camp . sooooo sorry that it never happened. BUT he was one who lived life the way it was to be lived. i know deep in my heart the sun set over the tetons will always make me think of this great man father husband friend and skier RIP DOUG

Every interview I've ever read/seen with him has always been about positivity and a love for the sport of skiing, whether it was skiing groomers at Vail or a gnarly line in Cham. He was a true ambassador for our sport. He will be missed.

So many vibes and prayers for his wife, child and friends.
    I feel the same... RIP.

When I was 14, I went to a steep clinic at Blackcomb and he was my instructor. He basically taught me how to make steep turns, and leap off cornices with a 4-point landing...its been engraved in my brain ever since. For that I thank him.

Best wishes to his family and friends....

    Oh no.

I just got back from a long day and saw this on Lou's site. Totally dumbfounded... hoped it was another aprils fools joke, but knew it wouldn't be.
