Love me some Lagavulin, but I definitely wouldn’t describe it as the least harsh of single malts.

Damn I'm jealous. I've got Ardbeg 10 at home and I think that is pretty good. Add 11 years to it and I bet it is divine.

I just picked up a bottle of Glenfiddich 18 Small Batch Reserve for New Year's Eve. I had the 18 before a few years ago and liked it, but this one seems to be the replacement. I am curious If this one tastes different.

It is divine. Maybe the best scotch I’ve had.

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

That looks like fun. I'm talking the my brother-in-law about going to a Macallan tasting this spring at a local restaurant. They will have multiple expressions of their their 12 yr. and pair it with cheese I believe.

That bar is my favorite in the world. Every first Tuesday they have a fairly priced event that includes three nice shots of different whiskeys, and then a mixed drink made with one of those whiskeys. The making of the same mixed drink in a quantity of 30-40 is something to behold. Entertaining. Wednesday is rough, though.
They stock about 120 single malts at all times. It's the only place I've been in where you can compare all the Ardbegs, all the Bowmores, and on. At least what's available in this country. The bartenders are very knowledgeable. They also do a trip to Scotland most every year for tastings at the distilleries. They make a mean martini, too.
I picked up some bad habits in that place.

I've been drinking the Talisker Game of Thrones release. Pretty damn good, but I prefer Talisker Distiller Edition.

Picked up Lagavulin 2018 The Distillers Edition to celebrate my black belt promotion in Modern Arnis. I must say it is delicious. It was distilled in 2002 and bottled in 2018 so I assume it is a 16 year old whisky. It is double barreled in a wine cask so it is sweeter than the normal 16 to my palate. It tastes a little less peaty than the normal 16 yr, but still has a lot of character.

This "capsule" Scotch whisky doesn't require a glass

(CNN)After the Tide pods craze, now we have Scotch pods, or "glassless cocktails" for drinkers who can't be bothered to pour.

"No ice. No stirrer. No glass. We're redefining how whisky can be enjoyed ... #noglassrequired," The Glenlivet tweeted as part of its "Capsule Collection" roll-out, timed with London's Cocktail Week.

Anyone know of any unpeated Islay single malts that they can recommend, other than the one I posted above?
