Thumbs up TR 3.26.06 Steeps, deeps, drops

Trip Report 3.26.06 - Summit County BC

    Participants:

    Mtnbikerskierchick

    Summit

Being up far too late the night before (we booted up Keystone at night... GNAR!) We took a leisurely start in the morning. We woke up to blue skies but the predicted storm blew in with fury drawing tourons to their balconies to gawk with us. The target de jour was definitely below tree line. The weather played games, returning to and staying sunny until literally the moment we began our ascent... then we had all the wind we wanted. This stop and go wind was a recurring theme throughout the day. Mostly the weather was nice and partly cloudy except on the summit. The skin is fairly steep but it gets you to the goods. There were many slideback switchbacks to contend with.

With areas reporting 1-2" of snow, we found ourselves the goods after consideration.

    Deep

We didn't mess around on the bunny hill either...

    Nuts!

The area was littered with cliffs and rocks with nice landings. This one I took with a lot of speed, as I counted down for the camera I decided to try my first ever front flip off a BC cliff.

    Far First Front

I flew off far with a lot of speed. It was a hottub landing that filled my clothes with snow. Great camera work, Mtnbikerskierchick!

    We yo-yod the shot.

    Face Shots!

We elected to ski the best chute on the peak.

    Steepest Entry

It's narrower than it looks with shark teeth lurking far from the walls.

    Steep and Narrow

Before the day was out I had several more hucks but was forced off a 25fter. We got Mtnbikerskierchick to do a little drop over some fallen trees. It was a perfect type of tour, we only wanted more.

It was a fun day, Summit Loved your spontaneous front flip too! We'll have to tour again soon, and maybe I'll feel better this time and want to do more hucks Skiing is always better when you're not sick, but then again, skiing allows me to pretend I'm not sick

Nice! Conditions look much better than the last time I was in there.

I think my favorite of all the shots I've seen of you. Is it high-res? should crop a closer-up shot.

and DAMN, the terrain in the background looks mighty tasty!!!

Actually, I think he was wearing different underpants last week...thankfully...for you

Coo. Looks like the sweet shot off that rock is the one he was kicking himself for not hitting last time.

    Nice work.
