    I'm so sorry L2S.

Maya was the loveliest girl. We once had a beautiful female malamute that looked just like her, and I know exactly how wonderful they are, and their special mix of love and affection and quirky PITA independence and defiance. I hope she's getting along with (my old girl) Zauni hanging out at the Rainbow Bridge.

It's been a little over a week since Hózhó (who was also 1/4 malamute, believe it or not) crossed the bridge. We still find ourselves glancing at his doggie bed expecting him to be sitting there chewing on his bone or squeaking his toy. It's kinda surreal.

Thank you all who posted, for all for your thoughts, it really means so much, so much. Even though I haven't met many of you, your vibes are greatly appreciated, and soften the blow.

We don't have kids, so our furbabies mean that much more to us; although we know our loving canines don't live as long as we would hope, it's always jarring when they leave us so suddenly, sooner than expected. zzz, you know the feeling and I commiserate.

garyfromterrace, hug Masie for me, she's a sweetheart. I'm so glad your neighbor's dog was okay.

She really was a beauty. Ageless until the day she left us except for the brutal arthritis. If I could have one wish, it would be that there is a Rainbow Bridge and she is happy, safe and with all her buddies that went ahead of her.
Thanks for the well wishes. I cried so much yesterday I wore myself out to crash at 8 pm and wake up at 3:30 am today and wide awake. Thank Dog for Gunther and the three kitties. Their love really helps.
Hug your pups. A heart is so empty as to feel gone without them.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

    RIP Ben Herbstreit.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...l/76112662007/

I always enjoyed seeing him travel the country and wander in and out of shots while his human was calling games. We should all be so lucky to take our pups to work with us every day.

    Good boy.

    L2S,
Malamutes are a special breed, like TRI said PITA, defiant, independent. I have found once you treat them like an equal instead of like a dog all the behavior problems disappear. They are simply the best dogs. We are currently on Malamute #4 and not a day goes by that I don't miss the other 3. I take comfort in knowing someday I will be with them all again.

So sorry for your loss. To ease the pain I always tell myself they left to make room for a pup that REALLY needs a good home.

Oh man seano, a gut-wrenching photo as I've also lost a pup on Thanksgiving. Zoe was surrounded by family and love, it's the best we can do. Hope your family is healing and the memories of her bring you lasting happy memories. Good girl Zoe.
