Always saddened when visiting this thread. +vibes+ to all those who have recently suffered loss. The misery is real. Stay strong. It’s beneficial to to spend time to remember the good times. It has taken me two years to start thinking of replacing Tucker. I still think of him literally everyday.

She was a straight-up mutt, the kind of dog you might see in an alley in Guatemala or Delhi, not even close to a breed. She was suspicious and smart and highly athletic and protective and fierce if she thought something was threatening us but always super sweet with us and our our other dogs. She was not fond of anyone else's dogs. At all. Quite the opposite. She never bit anyone but she kept a lot of Amazon drivers in their trucks, I'd get a call from the 206 and know it was another one and just answer "I'll be right out." I'm gonna miss her. I do miss her. RIP sweetheart.

It’s amazing the personalities these dogs exude. On the surface they seem to be dependent furbags but they love unconditionally and treat you better than most humans. So ruff. Sorry Ice

I don't check in here much.
The Buddhists infer that all pain comes from attachments and therefore we should minimize attachments.
On some attachments, fuck the Buddhists, I'll take the pain that comes from the richness of those attachments.

Sorry iceman. I'm just 5 months into a very intense love affair with Maisie. I just couldn't imagine life without her now. Take care man.

So sorry Iceman. Lily looks like an absolute badass dog, a wonderful companion - she definitely reminds me of all my "street friends" I had in South Asia.
--
One of the reasons this thread is helpful to me is because it makes me cherish the time I have with my dogs; I feel the pain and loss of other mags as their loved companions pass on, and I am forced to grapple with the fact that eventually it'll be my turn to memorialize my best friends.
Saying goodbye is brutal - but it's a price I'm willing to pay for years of unflagging friendship, love, loyalty, and stinky kisses. My heart goes out to you.

This stuff just tears me up. Lost my big guy Freddie last year and the thought of losing the new boy just kills me. We just spent a year in lockdown together and he grew from four pounds to a hundred in that time. My heart goes out to all of you who know what I'm saying and who have lost their friends recently.

Vet came to the house to put down GF's healer after 16 yrs which was pretty hard on her. The dog was still getting around but in a lot of pain/stress, up all night, had a huge cancer on her belly the size of a grapefruit that was leaking all over the place, vet gave the dog 1 or 2 months to live.
Vet thanked her for making the tough decision instead of letting the dog suffer

So hard to visit this thread. Lexa is slowing down quite a bit and it's always the heat of the summer that is hardest on the northern breeds.
Sending vibes to everyone who makes room in their life for a fur kid, despite the near certainty we will outlast them.

Thank you my friends, I really appreciate it.
This is emotionality draining, and indeed fucking sucks. All I can say is: it's worth it.....
They give us so much in the short time they're with us....

Sorry fellas. It's a tough thing.
On the other hand, today was Charlie's 1st birthday (pretty sure my wife just made up the date but she won't admit it), and he is a big long lean piece of doggie awesomeness. After losing 3 of them in less than 18 months (well it was 2 when we got Charlie, it's 3 now) I fought the idea of getting yet another dog. I lost that battle and now I'm glad I did.
