Fwiw, my pup was severely underweight when he was surrendered to the rescue at 3 months. I got him at 4 months and he was still skinny enough to see ribs, hips and spine, but not as bad as Ruby. I don't know I could stomach what he would have looked like a month prior. Now he's an 80# goober.

I visited here too soon.
Ruby quit eating and drinking on her own last week and we've been force feeding her every hour pretty much around the clock since. She took a huge turn for the worse this morning and it's clearly time and my wife is taking her in. I am so fucking wrecked I dont know if I can go back into work. She deserved better. I am done fostering dogs this too goddamned hard....Bunny Don't Surf

starvation causes some physiologic changes that may not be reversible - even given dramatically / significantly improved care...
