Hawaii surf JONG - advice
I am heading to Hawaii in a few weeks with my fam for my first time ever. I am very interested in learning to surf and hopefully not making a fool of myself. (keep in mind total JONG here)
Any advice on the following is greatly appreciated:
board rental-
size, price, duration. what's reasonable and where should I look?
beaches-
I'll be on Maui, any recommendations on smaller breaks, where to watch the pros hang it out, and how not to get strung up on the reef?
etiquette-
I'm not looking to piss the locals off, and it will be pretty obvious my white ass is from the main land. any particular do/don'ts I should know before I show up sporting my new quicksilver shorts and gaper rental board?
I am good swimmer, have reasonable balance and co-ordination and am willing to take a few slams to figure things out. hopefully this will come togethor.
on an unrelated note-
is it worth bringing my mt bike?
