    The Condiment Thread

So, I've recently come to the conclusion that condiments are my favourite food group. Our fridge is prolly 80% filled with condiments and I'm always looking for new ones.

Here are a few of my favourite red ones...hoping to get some new ideas from here.

Each one of these is really good on it's own, but mixing them together in roughly equal parts is absolutely the bomb for grilled cheese, mac&cheese, eggs etc.

    What have you?

The red stuff with the green lid is the best ever. Plain old rice with a healthy dose of that is tasty.

No shit. That's the stuff that made me realise the extent of my condiment fetish. I've been known to slurp that shit back straight outta the bottle.

Red Hot, but I think I need to branch out in the hot sauce department.

Those McCommick disposable spice grinders are sweet too. Obviously fresh ground pepper is great, but there are bunches of other ones too. Italian Herb is great.

    Crushed red pepper on Pizza.

I like A1 on lower quality steaks.

The cock sauce (bottle on the right) is all-time. Cholula is good and I still love Tabasco although it has become trendy to dog it.

Malt vinegar is an excellent condiment, as is Worcestershire sauce.

Mix 1 part ketchup 1 part worcestershire sauce and tabasco to taste for the best steak sauce ever (good for breakfast steak & eggs especially).

Sticking with liquids you keep in your fridge (ie not spices or spice mixtures):

    sriracha cock sauce
    Dave's Insanity
    good ol' Tabasco
    Texas Pete
    Cholula (but it's a bit cumin-y)
    Yucateco green sauce
    Mirin (sweetened sake)
Cambodian fish sauce -- surprisingly good
    Malt vinegar

Horseradish might deserve its own thread.

    I'm currently at a stage 5 addiction to Roast Beef/Horseradish Cheese/Horseradish sandwiches.

    Paste, Chili Paste

Once you graduate from the Sriracha sauce to the paste, there's no goin' back! Mix with hoisin sauce for that really confusing sweet and hot taste! Uh huh!

Texas Pete is the best of the generic hot sauces

Lizano sauce (hard for me to find in the US) is the absolute bomb on beans and rice and related dishes.

I've been using good old fashioned Miracle Whip on my sandos these days. Creamy, tangy, zesty. So good.

    hmmm condiments huh?

Agree with ice re: tobasco. I spent many years astray, searching searching. In the end, I've come back to the simple pure love of a dash of tobasco. That said, El Yucateka (sp?) the green is really excellent. And Dave's insanity company makes a very tasty garlic sauce.

check on the siracha although, I end up using plain chilie paste much more frequently.

A-1 sauce goes on any fried potato product

almost never use any ketchup type product.

    hellman's mayo

horseradish/hot mustard from the russian store

    sesame oil

    Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ.

Edit: I guess it's only good on meat. Which means it's good on everything important.

Cholula is like, emergency backup IMO.

Doesn't have the taste to really compete with the gourmet type sauces and it is so incredibly mild that it can't even be rightly called a hot sauce. Meh.

I will put it on stuff but only if there's no alternative.

If you have ever put mayo, hellman's or not, on a hot dog you are hereby excluded from pontificating on this subject.
