Solitude chute ID?
I am not familiar with Solitude, but a friend and I found our way through this chute and I was wondering if it has a name. We spoke with Iceman at lunch right before we went about hiking up the ridge, but didn't get any specifics on the ways down. I will post more pics from the whole trip sometime soon. We were in Utah for 8 days.
This is where the hike starts. It is the face that you see to your left when riding the Summit Chair. We went to what looked like the highest point on the ridge, where all the other tracks start dropping off the backside towards Brighton
Unfortunately I did not get a good shot of the whole face at a distance from the lift, but here is what I have. Basically, I think on far lookers right, maybe just outside the pics is Corner Chute. Then moving lookers left is a wider chute that looks like it has no entrance other than huge cliffs at the top. Then the next most obvious one that we did was a little narrower, but accessable from the top through the trees.
Regardless, it was really fun, and not many people had been in it that day if anyone from the top.

Nice work, Yetiman calls it "Ortovox." I'm more of a traverse in at the lowest rockband and snake your line kind of a guy, .

Ortavox it is. Skiers left is bombs away. Skiers right is two chutes called double barrels you traverse out right to a hanging pow field or huck big.
Farther right is dogleg and the wide open bowl is scree or evergreen bowl."When the child was a child it waited patiently for the first snow and it still does"- Van "The Man" Morrison

Thanks guys I knew you would have the info. So the blue line is bombs away and the purple lines are double barrels?

So how do you get into bombs away? Do you have to traverse from the corner chute or is there a line through those cliff bands somewhere above?

To get in, I would stand at the top and say 'bombs away' then jump in. Then I'd probably crash into a tree.

Exit of Double barrels looks sketchy in that photo ... like it's a good thing that I haven't looked all that hard for their entrance.
Who cares how the crow flies

Dude I took Latin for 8 years, of course i could decline it if it was a verb.
Pshaw.
Could I decline it if somebody said, "hey let's ski down here"?
Hell yes to that too.

How late do you think Solitude will be open this year?
