CO, DR. Referral(knee)
Need a clinic or doctor to take a look; I’ll save the crying pity bitching.
Have no relationship with a primary Doc but my insurance is top-shelf.
Just looking for someone who will take me off the street without a hassle or delay, ASAP.
Thanks

Orthopedic Associates at Rose
They are the orthos for the Nuggs and Avs. I beleive their knee guy is Dr. Parker. Unlike Steadman Hawkins (from what I've heard), the guys with their names on the door actually do the surgery. I had full shoulder reconstruction from them and have nothing but good things to say.
check it

My buddy is a PT and he said the exact same thing ( both about Parker being great and Steadman's underlings doing his work )

Drs. Ferlic and Hahn (Denver) were my hand and foot docs, respectively. They were amazing, and their sports med practice is a leader in Denver. They have a knee guy in their practice, too, but I dont remember his name. I'm sure a few quick internet searches will lead you to their practice.
Get a second opinion, and good luck!Powder. It gives you the freedom to be retarded. (S. Morrison)

Like Pinner said.
My vote goes with Stedmann-Hawkins. Dr Sterret is one of the top knee surgeons in the country. I believe he is the head Doc for the US womens alpine team. Everyone I know who has had work done there has said great things. On a more personal note my dad had dual knee replacements about 5 years ago. He had them done at the hospital for special surgery in NY , but almost went to Steadmann. He lives in NY so his choice of were to go was not that difficult(proximity to home)Skiing Sucks! What a stupid sport!

steadman did my acl few years back. it works fine, but the guys in aspen or slc do more of the athletes these days and are better IMO.

Steadman in Vail. My uncle knows him. He is taking my cousin to see him tomorrow. The man is worldclass... literally one of the best in the world (according to my dr. dad)

I went to Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Denver, in the Tech Center, and saw Dr. Schlegel for my knee issues.
I don't know if I can recommend him..I'm less than pleased with my care there. I think the guy was too knife-happy, and something to think about is that an ortho surgeon makes his living off of surgery, and thus may defer to that. However, I will say that those guys know what their doing there.
best of luck

“I beleive their knee guy is Dr. Parker. Unlike Steadman Hawkins (from what I've heard), the guys with their names on the door actually do the surgery”
tried to get Parker but the wait was long. FYI, I was told the Doc you start with is the one stick with from the receptionist. So it might be a good idea make sure you schedule who you want from the get go.
------
The wait was to long to get an appointment with the gurus. Ended up getting a quick appointment with a Genial practitioner. Figure its better to just get it looked at then wait around for wizards.
He did the basic tests and ACL looked good , supposedly some pushing an shoving conveyed the menicus is undamaged. The questionable spot is the MCL and I just got an MRI tonight. Over the last couple of days the knee has started healing fast so I’m optimistic.
Feeling relieved so far, the accident was stupid and sketch. Basically I straight-lined through some shrubbery at MRG. As I was in the shrubbery I attempted the “lay back on the tails thing to “duck “ a tunnel of tree branches. My left ski got deflected out and rode up a tree releasing when binding hit tree. Boot then whacked tree and the impacted tossed me a nice 180 air to ass.
Thanks again, I know who to peruse if needed but I think things will be OK. Outstretched spread eagle like leg to tree laying in the back seat is definitely a venerable position so I feel fortunate so far

Dr Rocci Trumper out of Fort Collins Orthro center of the rockies.
He he did my acl a 2 years ago and it is bomber. I had it done 5 years ago in Michigan and was given a townsend brace and was told to have it on all of the time I do anything active. Not to mention I was not able to walk on my leg for six weeks after the operation.
Well when I was in Alta I tore my acl again with my brace on and then met up with Dr Trumper. He did the operation and had me up and walking 3 hours after comming too. I never was given cructhes and was on my bike 6 days later. He is pretty aggresive but the hard rehab pays off. I now do everything with out a brace and no pain.
So If you can check him out, I know you can find info online.
Dr Rocci Trumper!!!!
Best of luck

Billow, what were you doing at MRG? Are you an EC transplant?
Sorry to hear about the knee.

Does Steadman-Hawkins still offer "Knee Insurance" to the Vail locals?
And none of you are talking about "the Hawk" - he was my man. According to him I didn't need surgery, but he rebuilt 4 of my friend's knees in the three years I was there.
With a reputation as good as S/H has, they can't afford to have bad docs there. Even if you don't get the guys whose names are on the door, whoever does the job will have been personally trained by them and won't be a slouch.
