Not good...not surprised. Was not far from the pass yesterday...it had really dumped. Stuck to pretty low angle terrain all day...whumping was present, as well as maybe up to 6" of sugar snow at the ground (which would go along with the whumping). Alot of new load added quickly, with lots of wind. Friends I was out with yesterday were headed for the pass today...mines wasn't on the agenda and I hope they didn't change their plans.

    Does "recovered" mean dead?

Shit. Friends would have likely had a dog out there today...that's probably about the group size they would have had too...about 3. Anyone from the party not buried?

Do you know if the other two were trying to do the rescue and hit by a second slide from above?

Prayers to the family, friends and those involved.

To reach Mines 1, you must cross over Mines 2.

Robokill and I were up there today and as soon as we heard what had happened we volunteered to help search. We waited around 45 min or so, but eventually they figured they had enough people searching. We then heard the news that 3 bodies were recovered and none of them made it. If we understood them right, they said one guy got caught in the first slide and then 2 others went to help in his rescue (unsure if they were in the same party... probably not). Then, as they were traversing to the area, they set of a cornice and got caught in that slide getting buried. As I said none of them made it. It was great to see how many people were anxious to assist in the search, but it was truly saddening at the same time. Needless to say, we weren't too psyched to ski after all that happened.
