Alls I know is that YetiMan will drag his furry paw as he carves the corduroy from time to time, thus making him a Master of the Carve.

    plus, I loved these ads.

and as anyone who skis with me will duly note: I don't catch any air, ever. And I fart. a lot.

so, whatever. This was always lightweight fun.

Do you realize that you've just posted an admission of ignorance so breathtaking that it disqualifies you from commenting on any political or economic threads from here on out?

That makes sense as an argument for keeping them. Not very common, but a valid reason. Most aliases are pretty lame.

Hold on a minute - I thought Max was an alias?

The recent stuff about him being the new kid at a college in the mountains have been brilliant

Bump. Seems relevent given the "Is Ogre Funny" thread.

That Jack Handy one is funny.

What ArchieBunker said sums it up for me "aliases are ok if its meant to be funny. even if its stupid, it has its place. aliases designed to take anon potshots or to bolster one self by pretending to be someone else are weak."

I've never posted about it before, but I don't personally think aliases are the problem, and even if they were, there is no way to stop it. And some of them are funny.

I think the ones using people's real names that are designed ala Warren Smith and Matt Neiderhauser need to go because they can potentially fuck someone over. Otherwise I always get a laugh out of Alpine Zone and a few others

Outing an alias isn't the same thing as banning an alias, or banning the better-known username hiding behind the alias. And I don't think we expect or want all the aliases to be outed. I would guess most of us don't care who's behind most of the aliases, just the ones who are full on wankers. Mime or Alpinezone would still be funny if we knew who was behind them (not that it's that important), but I imagine the people behind aliases like Hurricane wouldn't be such fucking assholes if we knew for certain who they were, especially after what's just come down.

We've been wading through fucked up shit crapped out by any number of aliases, and not just iskibc's many schizoid personalities. I find it pretty ironic that a few of the folks who profess the most hurt from this round of revelations doubtless use attack aliases themselves, to a greater or lesser degree. If you wanna confront somebody else's post(s) you take exception to, you're still behind your username, so why not sack the fuck up?

Maybe the powers that be should occasionally out an abusive alias now and then as a warning to all would be posters hiding behind aliases that they could be outed at anytime. It would cut down on the douchery, knowing that you may be outed at anytime. I have no need for aliases, but they are popular here, and the right to post as an alias is strongly defended here, so the ability should continue. If you know that taking an alias to far can get you outed, then maybe people would be less inclined to push the limits.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...
