I had a new bacon experience this weekend that I thought I would share with all of you.

I had piping hot corn chowder with very smoky bacon bits in it. Never thought of adding bacon before. The young woman, one of the owners of the Belmont General Store in VT, who cooked this soup is a genius. Go there and get thee some good chowder.

Also, who knew bacon had vitamin A??

I made some bacon this morning. 4 strips w/4 eggs. Mmmmmmm.

Noone cares, but I'm so inspired by the love of Bacon in this community (6 pages??) I decided to stop being a lurker and say "Hello, this is my first post." Compared to the majority here, I'm a gaper, for sure. I will get past this stage; I have fun, and have been trying to improve over the past three seasons (similar to related post re:nobody likes to admin they suck); only wish I had found out snow covered mountains were so much fun earlier in life.

Anyway, this weekend a friend had a pig roast/housewarming and saved the back straps for last to share among the late stayers... now that's some FRESH BACON!!!

It's true, bacon brings out the best in us, eh? Although that remains to be seen in your case...JONG!

(Heh, haven't done that in a while. If you make your first post about bacon, you're probably OK in my book.)

I sweated off some Canadian maple bacon in a pan and added some creme fraiche. Made a nice sauce for pasta. Simple and delicious (a bit like Roo).

    celebrate w/bacon

(Heh, haven't done that in a while. If you make your first post about bacon, you're probably OK in my book.)
Bacon, a universally friendly way to break the ice.

Today I spent some time with some board TR's and skiporn... and thought, hey, Colorado just got 20" and I'm not going to get better here in icyhill NC so I should take a week vacation out West in Nov/Dec instead of waiting till Feb. Maybe two trips in addition to going in Feb, because I have been so busy w/work and crap that I have not taken much vacation this year. Called the SO, and she has to turn in her schedule for the rest of the year in a day or two. So... looks like i'm heading to <Col/Utah/Tahoe/> sometime Nov/Dec for a week. Need to decide where the best chance of fresh snow in early Dec will be and make some arrangements! If you're thinking 'This doesn't have shit to do with Bacon'... well,

to celebrate, I'm throwing some bacon on the grill to wrap around the grilled burgers I just threw on. Two helpings of Bacon, dreams of powder, and an official JONG. Not a bad day, considering it's a workday.

I found it best if you add more roasted garlic and then top it with a red wine mushroom reduction I give it 5 stars at least...

I guess this a good place to show my appreciation for the perfectly aged venison backstrap, grilled wrapped in bacon I ate last night, while watching the Steelers pull one out.

No offence or anything, but i reckon you might as well elect a rasher of bacon as president of USA. At least your nation could congregate around something you all actually like.

check out the double smoked mahogany bacon from meadow farms smokehouse in bishop, ca - it is the best bacon ever! my gf's dad sent me some last xmas, and now we order it every few months to stock up: super lean (no fat) and thick strips that are super-smoky. mmmmmm, bacon...

a couple of good bacon ideas:

    1) wrap raw bacon around an uncooked hotdog and grill to perfection

    2) take some raw hamburger meat and shape into a thin patty. place cheese, cooked bacon pieces, onions, etc on the center. put another thin hamburger patty on top and crimp the edges so you have a stuffed burger. grill to perfection

4 strips of Hempler's pepper crust bacon (extra lean), 2 eggs over medium and a pile of crispy hashbrowns for breakfast this morning. Ahhhhh, bliss.

mista - if bacon was on the ballot, it'd get my vote!
