Half the time I can't even access the forum and when I can it's nothing but fucking emojis.
Wtf. Does anybody even care?
Where is everyone going to keep trading gear?

Some people have been migrating over to SkiTalk.
Sadly it has really gone downhill. Traffic has cratered.
Shit , this is the closest thing I have to an online social life.
Which forum did Benny go to? That could be amusing.
nyskiblog. but his content is less than inspired.
The amount of money I save on ski gear through the forum is significant enough that I'd chip in to fund some proper IT infrastructure for the forums... Maybe we can band some people together to pool a bit of money, set this up on a different forum platform, and ask TGR to redirect to a new platform? I've given up hope that Tapatalk will ever be workable.
Evidently keeping a forum up and running is more complicated than rocket dentistry. For fucks sake, if Flexon Phil can keep Ski Talk up and running then anybody ought to be able to make it work. It's not like this is uncharted territory on the innerweb.
OPEN LETTER TO THE IT GUT AT TGR......please take a quick break from smoking dope and watching reruns of Gilligan's Island and fix this fucker.

Fuck this shit, I'm going to AlpineZone.
I have said elsewhere that I’m happy to set us up on the domain powfix.com … we’ll see how it goes in the coming weeks and if it’s necessary I’ll get it done.
In the meantime if you’re on Facebook join the group The Powder Zone for updates.
I joined, it’s not too bad, full of piste dorks but they love pics of off piste powderOriginally Posted by yeahman;[emoji[emoji6[emoji640
Last week the app seems to be almost unusable. Won’t load any pages. Constantly crashing

If you can't respond to a SkiTalk reference with a NERDS! gif, the TGR truly is dead.</p>
Maybe this is the price we pay for being the most legit. Like CBGB.

What about a discord? Isn’t that what all the cool kids are doing now?

Discord would be fine for casual talk here and there, but threads wouldn't succeed imo. My hope is in powfix. Thanks for your hard work thus far TahoeJ.
The TGR app on the App Store is no longer supported.
Everyone is supposed to use the “Tapatalk” app now, which mainly sucks because there are ads unless you pay for the “VIP” version, which isn’t that expensive to be fair, $10 annual or $30 lifetime. Emojis and pictures and numbers work on that app, as well as the desktop site
The Mod team stated on 2/9/25 that the Main TGR site is going through a lot of changes/upgrades/data migration, and is the main priority initially. The mod and IT team is aware of the forum issues, but they aren’t a priority and likely won’t be completely fixed until later in the year ~5 months. See the link at the bottom of my post, it’s a sticky.
The data migration and site upgrades are likely a cause of the forum being slow/not loading intermittently, and shouldn’t be permanent. Currently seems like there are server communication issues.
I wouldn’t care one way or another where/how the site is hosted, but it would be a tragedy IMO if all the threads and data on this forum were lost, there’s so much good technical and ski review related info on the threads here going back 15+ years so keeping the forum alive should be the goal IMO. I search through old threads all the time for technical info. Not sure how migrating to a new domain would work with old threads, particularly because the only search engine that actually works to parse through them is Google (to search only the tgr site).

If we transition to a new forum software, keeping the old forum in a read-only state would be great. There's a lot of info buried in the old threads, things like first descent records and niche gear info.
One of the tragedies of the upgrade of the turns-all-year forums was that a bunch of old trip reports got mangled in the transition. The simplest solution seems like keeping a read-only version of the forum around and host a fresh start.
