Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Yeah, I know, put it in Music, Books and Gofuckyourself. Theres like 12 people here get over it.

2025 nominees came out today and are an interesting bunch.

Among the nominees, Black Crowes, Outkast and Soundgarden to me are very deserving.

Every 9 months when I hear a Joe Cocker song somewhere I am reminded how much I like his style.

Mariah should be barred on the basis of the Christmas song alone, and be very happy with her December royalties checks in lieu of permanent fame.

Will Oasis stay together long enough to one day see induction? Actually, which dickhead brother combo has the potential to crater their band (again) before they make the Hall, the Crowes' Robinson brothers or Oasis' Gallaher brothers?

Phish is very deserving of the nomination. I’m amazed they have never been nominated until now

St. Vincent doing "Lithium" at the 2014 Nirvana induction is one of the best performances I've seen at the ceremony. Some of the performances can be pretty awkward like the Talking Heads pretending not to hate each other

This years Induction Ceremony from CLE was incredible if you happened to catch the full 4 hour show. The Tribe Called Quest segment alone was fantastic with Chappelle getting things started.

I think there's a bunch of those kinds of examples.

Like this last year I was really surprised to find out Ozzy had not yet been inducted (Sabbath had but not him).

Did not know that. Music is so subjective that trying to compile any kind of a HOF will lead to some people getting stiffed.

The Rock Hall is such bullshit. No Little Feat. No J. Geils. No New York Dolls. And on and on. So many great bands not in there: https://ultimateclassicrock.com/arti...-hall-of-fame/ And so many shitty pop bands in there but I don't have the heart to look for a list.

I'll be curious to see where the nominations, and really the Hall itself, go from here since Jann Wenner was removed from the Hall's board.

The actual museum announced a major expansion late last year so there's clearly interest in growing the institution.

It is odd to think that the New York Dolls aren't in (among others) and I had to google that when I read it.

David Johansen of the New York Dolls passed away today at 75, which means they'll probably be on the list for next year.
