Mine finally died. Somewhere in there, Hestra discontinued gods gift to gloves.
Now what?

However many are in a shit ton.
I was going to say free the powder Freeride, but they are out except for small. Maybe try a message. Let’s see if a link works.https://www.freethepowder.com/products/freeride-radical

I’ve got a pair of those FTP gloves. They’re a nice glove. They are in an entirely different league than the Hestras. A much lower league.

I’ve been really impressed with my Oyuki’s.

For the models I have, I don't find Hestra's to be in any way superior to the FTP gloves. I'm happy with, and like both, with the biggest difference between the two being price.
Im going to be that guy. Having used a lot of different options for gloves, I still think Kinco is the best option in terms of price vs. durrability. And with sno seal just as waterproof as any other leather glove. That being said if you need the protection on the knuckles the freeride is the GOAT. Why not go with the new Fall Line or Vertical Cut CZone?
Hestra Fall Line or Fält Guide Glove
Goretex gloves are overrated

Fall Line's seem to fit me just like the Vertical Cuts. However they feel a bit bulkier. Maybe because they are not 15 years old and packed out like my old ones.

They pack down a bit after a season or two, but yeah they’re generally on the bulky side.
Biggest thing going for them is comfort. Most dexterous ski glove I’ve ever used. Surprisingly warm too.

Can't quote Nick, but yes Oyukis.
I'm not sure of the model I have (but the design is VCFesque).
Not quite as fucking dextrous, but warmer and more luxurious leather.
I have the fall line 3 finger and army leather patrol glove. Fits pretty much any need I have skiing. IMO, the army leather patrol doesn't get enough attention as one of their best gloves - mix of goat and cow leather, with a removable liner.

Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?
fuck that noise.
gmen.
Leki stuff is in the same league as hestra.
Check out the copper or patrol 3d
Hey, were you the one who bought a bunch of gloves for mags way back when they did the garage Sale in Golden?

One of my remaining pair of VCFs I affectionately call the Franken Gloves, due to the number of times I’ve restitched them, needed to be replaced. I picked up a pair of VCCZs and they are close to the VCFs. A little longer cuff and somewhat bulkier but that could chalked up to my VCFs being well packed out.
I’m also trying these from Powder 7 and really liking them so far. Very similar build quality and fit. They make a mitt version as well.

Encouraged that the “new” VCCZ is a close replacement.Originally Posted by thommy

I was under that impression until I moved to the PNWet. A modern ski glove is just better engineered to work in the extremes. A Kinco is not going to keep you dry when it’s 34* heavy snain at Baker or keep you warm at -10* and windy at Whitefish. But yeah - if you’re skiing in a milder climate - no reason to not get Kinco’s.

If the question is price vs durability, then Kinko has a lot of merit. But that still narrows it down to “which one is he talking about?” Their website shows many options including many over fifty Bucks and one for ninety seven!
But I digress. This tread is about a glove for people willing to spend additional money for a glove that is dexterous as fuck. One thats warmth comes from how well it fits. One that curls effortlessly into a fist. One that feels like the proverbial worn in baseball glove. One you wear when it’s not that cold, because you love the way it makes you happy. Not cheap and durable. That’s another thing for another day.
