In Search of Modern Pintail Powder Ski

Looking for something like the Rossi S7. A pin tailed, early taper, cambered, rockered pow ski.

Kinda like Black Diamond Amperages, Atomic Automatics, lib tech fully functional fives, icelantic keepers. Almost everyone used to make a ski like the s7.

On3p kinda makes one - the billy goat and dps makes the kaizon 112. Both not exactly what im looking for. Fatypus and Armada make five cut skis too but not with a pin tailed.

Anyone know of a modern pin tail ski thats on the market and I overlooked?
Someone shoulda warned him that no matter how brutal winter or summer can be, a bad post on TGR can be almost impossible to weather once the shitstorm breaks loose.

    Or worse, the "Shitnado"!

    No, a shiticane.

Armada Whitewalker is a pin tip/tail shape. Armada even describes them as such.
Although compared to other skis you've listed, its a much more freestyle focused ski

If you want a ski like one that was built several years ago, why not just track those down?

Armada’s copy says “pin tip & tail” whatever that means—apparently heavy taper/pointy tips.

But looking at the dimensions, its a more freestyle shape and definitely not a pintail.

I have a minty pair of [emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]]][emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]] Super S[emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]]’s (green and white) that I was saving for my son, but never got him on them. Currently mounted with Kiwi Pivots for a [emoji639][emoji638][emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]]bsl. Let me know if this is what you are looking for?

Volkl Revolt 114 has tips quite a bit wider than tails.

It would be so rad if they did. Likely a slightly less rockered, stiffer version.

Most skis do have a slightly larger shovel than tail. A pin tailed ski has significantly narrower tails compared to the tips.

I guess pintail can mean more than one thing.

In the sense the k2 pontoon was a pintail - thats what i am after.

Yeah, I'll sell you my back-up pair of Lhasa Fats.
That's the Droid you're looking for.

FWIW, the Lhasa has the most tip-to-tail delta (20mm) and most sidecut to midsole offset (about 40cm) of any ski i've ever seen or measured. Those are, in my view, the most pintail skis of em all (at least in terms of fat pow skis).

@ TwinTipFlip - just having a hard time tracking what you are after? A modern version of an S7 crossed with a Pontoon?

How about a Salomon BBR? Quick Google yields sidecut of 147-88-102, with a turn radius around 12M. Sounds horrific to me, but YMMV...

That big dual radius works real well on that ski.

Just to make sure I am tracking: Deep tail taper, notably high tip/tails, and generally short running length -- so super loose and surfy?

If so, the Folsom Completo is probably the most comparable today, as far as I know

They make the G Wagon, which is very simialr to the Pontoon specs too.

Not only that, but the tails ought to =/< 10mm wider than the waist.

BD Amperage and Praxis GPO seem to be the better versions of the S7 and/or for more advanced skiers. There have been a few GPOs for sale on the forum recently at good prices and they are super durable (cosmetic top sheet chips notwithstanding).

Isn't the BD Boundary 115 basically a newer updated Amperage? They look like it although I haven't compared the exact specs. And they will be on clearance at the end of the season.
