Matt and/or Tom, for the boots coming out with no walkmode but tech toes, would it be much more expensive to also include a tech heel? I know it’s the smallest group that would tour with a full tech set up in an alpine boot, but if it doesn’t cost much to add a heel insert, why not?

It would be slightly more not to the extent it’s the reason for not adding it, I’m just never asked for it. I get countless messages about having a tech toe but just don’t see the demand for a heel one. But if there is a demand then yeah we could easily add it.

One of the main reasons I’d want tech fittings on an alpine boot is for redundancy. I’ve broken a few pairs of boots over the years, and I’d guess that it will happen again someday. It would be nice to be able to use my alpine boots as a backup to my touring boots just while waiting for warranty/new touring boots.

Can I buy the boa upper components to bolt on to my existing boot to try?
It looks like that’s pretty much what Nordica did.

I might try a Cortex but not sure about the flex. Is the 140 a true 140 or more like a true 130? I‘m skiing currently Nordica Promachine 130 as alpine boots and their flex is spot on for me.

The people want a 3 piece tech boot with the Revolve Plus Shell, a wrap liner and walk mode. Nobody cares if it has BOA or not. We have been waiting a loooooong time! Please @tompietrowski make it happen

If the pro machine is stiff enough go for the 130 or maybe even the 120. These flex more like consumer level race boots, think Redster, RS, DRS

Thanks Tom. I’ve been using a krypton with tech fittings and no walkmode for a few years. A three piece boot walks good enough with the tongues out for slack country skiing here at Kicking Horse in my experience. And it skis much better than boot with walkmode with less things to break when skiing inbounds laps. It’s a niche of niche for sure.

Any chance we could get weight of the Cortex 140 shell in 26.5, without the liner?

    I don’t have a 26.5 at home but a 27.5 is 1876g

I wouldn't say it's completely different but it has been changed a bit, most getting rid of the CFX for a basalt fiber. Still will please those who love the current one. I personally like that the 194 is now a 192.

So do any of these BOA boots have a comparable heel hold to the Vulcan?

Their boa thread is the Armada AR One thread. Some guy endlessly(like 3 pages) going off on abduction angles and claiming the atomic nerdykid and k2 Tom guy are intentionally building dangerous boots.
