Anyone disable the Hoji Lock on Radical Pros?

I know, I know that "one move transitions" and "pants down always" are the greatest boot innovations since buckles, but I kinda hate the Hoji Lock, and I do love these boots.

Transitioning from ski to walk doesn't provide enough ROM for how I wanna tour (without opening the cuff buckle and power strap) and I can't go from walk to ski, as tight as I want the cuff, without two partners pulling down on the lever with me. I always just unbuckle the cuff buckle completely and then can barely throw the lever down with the power strap still tight. I have other partners who find this move much easier. I'm not weak so I don't know if my boots are just weird.

I also wanna switch from the inelastic Velcro power strap to a cam style (Booster or Atomic Dual), but if I do that I want to divorce the power strap from the ski/walk lever.

I know ppl have sewn a Booster onto the existing strap loop but then it is still connected to Hoji Lock. And, just undoing the cable from the lever to the cuff buckle seems like the cuff may not tighten enough because the cable secures the cuff buckle's wire loop near the lever.

Besides "shoulda just bought the Radical," anyone try to de-Hoji the Pros?

When I changed from the stock liner to the Intuition Tour Wrap it improved the ease of the shift to ski mode. Maybe take the liner out and see if you can identify whether something is snagging the cables. Assuming that doesn't fix it you would have to decouple the cables from the lever and anchor them to another part of the cuff.

I too swapped in the Tour Wraps, I found the OEM liners too short, but it remained just as hard to go into ski mode. Maybe even more because of the extra space taken up by the wrap.

The cables are hidden between plastic pieces, but it does seem there is excessive friction coming from somewhere, but it is identical on both boots. I have the newer cream colored ones fwiw

You can easily remove the cables from the walk mechanism. Just drill some holes and permanently attach the powerstrap and find a buckle that will fit and you’re good to go.

I have the same boots and i added a voile strap over the liner, under the shell. Feels just like a booster strap

I routed a booster strap through the strap wire loop so that the lock mechanism doesn't affect the strap. The strap now holds the wire loop from dangling around. Might be cleaner to remove the strap wire entirely, but I haven't bothered with that yet.

I always tour with the cuff buckle(s) unbuckled all the way in every touring boot regardless of model. On the Radical I also loosen/tighten the the ankle strap for touring/skiing a few clicks. Still faster than transitioning with a 4 buckle boot.
