I have absolutely zero sympathy for the CEO who got assassinated. I will donate generously to any legal defense fund for the assassin if he is ever caught.

Fuck United Healthcare. Maybe this guys death will do the world some good. That’s about the only good thing that could come of it.

Healthcare is so expensive here largely because administrators out number clinicians by a huge margin. It takes so many non-clinical admin to navigate our stupid bullshit system.

    /end rant
I can't recall whether this has been posted here already, but it's another denial of coverage case in extreme detail.

On the anniversary of John Lennon getting gunned down on the streets of NYC I'd like to second that emotion. Too many people getting shot already.

    Meh.
CEO rises to power by not viewing others as human beings.
Those people don’t view CEO as a human being upon his death.

Maybe we’re “just asking questions” - like you did about whether or not the Holocaust was as bad as they say it was.

I can't remember the specifics but a buddy of mine had his wife go into labor very early and ended up in Seattle's NICU for 5 months with twins. He had great insurance and still had to battle the life flight costs. They were double billing everything. He reached out to the Montana AG(? I think) and it ended up resulting in new legislation. Nice to see the system actually work. Although it would've bankrupted many average montanans.

    Yeah, its complex.

Most people with the mentality to reach the top of the corporate ladder are assholes...but not all. I've met a few over the years and in my little sample "most" are arrogant, yet incredibly intelligent, complete assholes. So is it a mental illness? I think it is. I am not schooled at all in psychiatry or psychopathology, but these guys seem to only care about wealth and power. We just elected one as our president.

The one good thing that can possibly come from this particular asshole being gunned down is some systematic change within the health insurance industry...but I'm not holding my breath.

At the very end of this it says:
“ He is still in the wind as of Saturday evening — but Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that police have identified the shooter.”

Honestly I don’t give a rats ass about this fuck or that fuck. They’re all the same. Only looking for their own perceived power over others.
I truly hate these people. Hate is a strong word and I fully know this and choose to use this word wholeheartedly.

This guy is just another blip in my internet timeline. Nothing more.

Also my sibling is in the ICU currently, total time in the hospital on this stint just over 7 weeks. UHC insurance has denied a patient that will die soon without continued kidney dialysis 3-5 days a week and needs a kidney transplant to live.

    DENIED!

You can argue with me your morality bullshit about this persons kids and wife all fucking day long till you’re blue in the face and I’ll tell you to suck my motherfucking dick.

He ran a company making inhumane decisions for others lives. Reap what you sow motherfucker and make better decisions in your life. Or not you worm food motherfucker.

My care team had to go through prior authorization hoop jumping to get me approved for Brentuximab, a more expensive, more effective, less pulmonary toxic med. Also had to hoop jumping for a med that would help me have some semblance of an immune system. One shot in my stomach cost $5000. Had to do it after every chemo. $60,000 total.
That’s shitty considering that BV-AVD is the current standard of care for Hodgkin’s. That’s what my wife is doing. She did one cycle of Nivo but developed pneumonitis in an immune reaction, so we switched to the current standard.

A friend of hers just finished breast cancer treatment with UHC and they wouldn’t authorize a Nulastra shot until she developed neutropenic fever. My wife’s are authorized as part of her treatment.

I vaguely remember reading about it at the time. Glad that happened before our experience, just as I’m glad there’s been turnover in our local cancer treatment center (read the ProPublica article in the longform magazine article thread).

Suspect held for questioning in PA. Sounds like it's probably him. Gonna be interesting to hear what this guy's story is.

So they think some guy makes it this long, gets to another state, and doesn't ditch the gun? I doubt that.

The guy they have used the same fake ID used at the hostel in NY. He has a gun with silencer similar to the one used in the crime. And he arrived in PA on a greyhound bus from NYC (and the last place they tracked the guy in NYC was at the bus station).

Either it's the guy and he's not actually a criminal mastermind, or some incredibly gullible person got duped by the killer and is about to have a real bad time.

Well then, we'll get to hear his story... although I imagine the insurance cabal will be using whatever influence they have to suppress his story.

Odds he walks by jury nullification?
