Legal.
You’re the General Counsel of a company and you hire Fuckstick, McGee and Taint law firm to assist with a matter. They do the work and send the bill later. That paradigm is shifting with the birth of legal tech and in house legal leaders who have been hired to actually add value rather than just play golf with the managing partner at the biggest firms in town to get a 10% discount on work you were already writing a blank check for; but it’s still pretty prevalent.
Can you imagine trying to build a house and when you ask the GC how much it’s going to be, he tells you that you will find out when it’s done? In any other industries we would tell these people to get fucked and provide a breakdown of costs and phases.
