Odds he walks by jury nullification?
I think the most interesting outcome here is if this goes to jury trial and the overwhelming evidence is that he did it, but the jury is unwilling to convict.

That might actually lead to some changes in the world.

The absolute money machine that is the health insurance lobby feels like an unstoppable juggernaut, styming any meaningful changes in regulation or the system that does not preserve insurance profits.

I've never been sure what it would take to change it. Maybe this is it? I doubt it though...

The whole thing is such a weird mix of well thought out criminal enterprise and absurd choices.

If he was hanging out in public with the same fake ID and a manifesto about health insurance (and the gun?) then it sounds like he didn’t care if he got caught

Not with Trump on office. He sounds determined to make it worse.

Crazy that a McDonalds employee actually watched the news. Fast food joints are full of low information employees.

This guy made mistakes. Just the DNA at the scene would have led to him eventually. Can't say I'm sorry he was caught, violence is a messy fork in the road and it turns quickly into a one way street to hell.

Message sent though, CEO was scapegoated, our collective anger vented, but in the short term this will be used by the elite to justify even more suppression, abuse, humiliation (see ceo non violence pledge above), and wealth extraction from the masses.

We, as a people, don't yet have the courage to solve the healthcare problem. We do seem to agree we have one, everyone is surprised the watched pot suddenly, violently boiled over to the dismay of almost nobody. We are now in a new reality, what that is I'm not sure yet. In that sense this assassination was wildy successful. Is that terrifying or hopeful?

We also, inexplicably just voted to hand the billionaires the keys to the kingdom. They will make us pay for the actions of this man.

What a time to be alive.

Ol Ted had some valid points, he just expressed them in an improper matter.

This guy though... The jury is going to get some HARD instructions when the time comes for a verdict.

Seems to me that he either wanted to get caught or just wasnt as crafty as people made him out to be. Many mistakes.

Stays at a local hostel the night before.

Mask but a baseball hat worn low woulda made it that much harder to get good pictures.

    Those eyebrows. Really identifying.

Dropped his phone and such - dNA coulda got him eventually

Didnt ditch all the clothes, gun, fake IDs, etc. coulda been in a bag at the bottom of the east river.

United Healthcare CEO shot to death in front of NYC investor meeting

Luigi Mangione - 26 years old. Went to UPenn and has a masters in computer & information science and was in a frat. Valedictorian of his high school class in Towson, MD. Gun thought to be a ghost gun made on 3-D printer and he still had it on him. Multiple fake IDs on him including one that matched the one he used at the hostel. 2-3 page manifesto on him that showed “ill will“ towards corporate America.

You’d think all those classmates would have recognized him. His face/eyebrows so distinct. Many of them are probably in corporate America. You’d think they wouldn’t appreciate vigilante justice.

I hate UHC too but glad he was caught- maybe this will kick in changes to the system, but not holding my breath.
