    W. Wa Cascadia Autonomous Region '24/'25

25*F and 30" in 36. Snow at the homestead @1500' this morning. Ski areas opening this week and plenty of folks getting after it.

Time for a new thread for the new season.

Sharing my beta pics that will be quickly outdated with the storm coming through, but these were some shots taken over the weekend at Crystal.

Saturday was a nice and encouraging trip out to campbell basin, Sunday was wet and heavy unless you got up past 6k. trekked up to top of rex, learned some tough lessons that some rocky areas still have minimal coverage but got lured by the pristine blanket over the top.

Baker is claiming a 59" base at Heather Meadows https://www.mtbaker.us/snow-report/

Can anyone confirm? Just kind of surprised it's that deep. Last winter was so dismal, not sure they ever saw that much base.

Can confirm it is deep up there. Several laps in Swift Creek on Saturday with what felt like half of the state and then a few laps in the resort on Sunday and it was nuking snow. Better riding conditions than any of the days in January 2024 that I got in.

Nice to see Crystal with the groomers out in anticipation of the coming weeks weather. (Yes, I look at the cams too often)

2 days ago there was a harsh snowline around 4k from previous rains.

As of yesterday, at least publicly, Crystal Mountain has their "eyes on an upcoming storm cycle and will continuously assess conditions this week."

White Pass is tentatively opening the 22nd

Edit: Crystal is officially opening the 22nd too

Took a stroll up at Crystal the other day to see how the early season conditions were setting up.

Was pleased thus far with the base:

At this point are Stevens and Snoqualmie about the only areas left that haven't officially announced an opening date? Stevens still saying Dec 6, tentatively.
