    It goes without saying that you can post whatever. Just try not to bring down the vibe.

    Truckee Joe knows where to get the actual conditions report for the village. It's me.

    Hard fast groomers, nice to turn but boring in short order.

    We talk about conditions all the time. But we rarely point out worst ever data points. We all look at the weather.

    That video is way cool. It captures the radness of that terrain. But also the kickass humans that keep the hardcore sick areas ticking over. They are crazy places and the lifies, mechanics, patrol, groomers etc. work their asses off because they love it. Its hard work for the sake of hardwork and thats a bit in short supply in society.

    PS. I’ll be in town on the 14th for my usual week of work/not really work. So keep me posted if I should stick to rock skis for the trip.
    not sure how many skis you can bring, but a pair of rock skis wouldn't be a bad idea
    if you're talking about the 14th of this month there might not be any new snow from now until then

    Poor sleepy G just can’t catch a break. It’s a great little hill with some potential, just not enough visits to keep the lights on. I may or may not have cut some killer lines in off the ridge to the base area on the sides on that place.

    liked the local hill vibe. you would think some rich transplant could subsidize it so the town could keep it running as a community hill.

    I did the avalanche hazard evaluation for SG when it was to be re-opened as a non-profit area. Cool hill but too damn far from enough of a population base, Cody alone doesn't cut it.
    I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

    yea the bus was pretty empty. Cordova Alaska makes the community hill work with a population of around 2000. Cody has at least 5 times that.

    Seems to be a spurious standard.

    Who is "we"?

    If people from out of town want to know actual conditions, they should PM you and others shouldn't post about it?

    New owners make sub-optimal decisions, tourist crowds, marketing department being tone deaf, nightmare rock having a lift tower installed on top of it, parking lots being full, parking season passes being sold out in an hour, early access passes being too exclusively for the wealthy, groomers being boring- all of that is fair game. But dare to mention the weather or how things are trending vs historic norms and that totally brings down the vibe?

    Sure is a lot of work to tiptoe around your superstitions.

    Don't make a mountain out of a molehill.

    If coming in the first week of skiing and telling everyone it's a shitty start doesn't strike you as an unwelcome post, then maybe you should figure it out. I got no time to explain the obvious.

    We is all of us.

    Cool man! I lived in Cody for 3 years. First day at SG I had never seen so much carhart, cowboy hats and even chaps on a ski hill. It was awesome! The party in the lot at the end of the day was always wild! We built a huge kicker on the lower hill and the staff would turn the lift back on after the day crowd left so we could cycle the kicker. Some of the wrecks from the cowboys on skis was amazing. Ahh, great memories.
    Sorry if I’m messing the thread. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

    That Sublette vid is awesome, shared it with some of the ops guys here at Sugarloaf. Our VP of ops told me it's over six figures just to mobilize those spider excavator guys to the job site, that's base price.

    Lots of great visions in the movie house of my mind riding the couch and skiing that ridge. For some reason one that sticks out is skiing on Christmas day with Steve Haas back in the early 90's. We were about the only two riding the chair that day.

    So the chart is okay but the words get you banned?

    In other funny news the $25 tickets for ski in jeans day tomorrow are sold out.

    Kokomas, I almost stopped by your place the other day. Figured unannounced was uncool tho.

    Are you feeling up to some turns? I'd be stoked to take laps with you and the groms.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I saw that spider at the summit last summer, excavating the area for the skywalk. You could tell that the operator was a serious kinda guy.
    Watching him creep down towards that tower placement, fuck me, man. That was sketchy and a long tumble before big air to a really long tumble.
    Plenty of 'bilers around and lotsa sledskiers. Not too many in this thread tho, methinks.
    I didn't get a pass this year, sorting out a back issue. Still down to hang though. I did want to gimp it up tomorrow for $25. Laughable that you can't walk up and pay for that. Like what kind of a nerd skis in jeans but also goes online ahead of the event to pay. I guess everyone but me. End rant
    Will look for some sort of mag gathering at my place once we get finished with the work there. Some stuff needs to be burnt
    Well Dang.
    I knew about the back, was hoping it had improved more.
    I'd bet a few bucks if you walked up, they'd sell you one. Holla if ya give it a try.
    For groomers, it's Moran and Werner from AV and upper Wide Open over to EDI on Casper. It's likely gonna be an absolute circus tomorrow.
    That sublette video made me nostalgic for my days rallying down from Bozeman to catch storms.
