Spokane is a great launching pad, yurp, bring your alpine setup. So so much to ski that is accessible via cable. Post up here to find mags who can show you around.

Everything is a long drive in Canada. That is why Canada is known as The Big Land.

RCR card gets you 1st, 4th and 7th days free, and discounted prices on other days. I'll be at KH 2/1 - 2/7 and then FWT is at KH 2/7-2/14, so it's decently busy that time.

Sunshine Card will get you a similar deal at Revelstoke. Although you need purchase your tickets daily from guest services

My wife and I are coming on a trip to British Columbia in a few days. Mix of inbounds at Kicking Horse and Revelstoke and touring on Rogers Pass and maybe elsewhere. I have a couple touring comms questions.

1: Is there a designated walky talkie radio channel groups are supposed to monitor and "call their drops" while skiing in certain areas? As far as I know this hasn't really taken off anywhere, but I want to ask

2: Are there any law enforcement or SAR numbers/emails you would put in an InReach? I'm not familiar with Canada's system, but I have the SAR or sheriff's office numbers for the counties I commonly ski in saved, in hopes that if I need help I could give and receive more information instead of just hitting the SOS button and waiting.

Thanks, I'm excited for our visit!

1 877 852 3100 is the number for incidents in Glacier National Park (Jasper Dispatch). For Search and Rescue outside the national park call 911 - RCMP authorize SAR call outs. Both services are no-charge and they both only accept voice calls. N.B. BC Ambulance Service will take over transport to hospital once out of the backcountry and they do charge - the helicopter air ambulance is over $4000 per hour for non-residents.

For places like Red, WH2O, Fernie, and Revy, do I want to have skins to access the common sidecountry zones, or do they tend to be sidesteps/bootpacks? The obvious answer is to bring the touring gear, but that does mean hybrid boots vs. my preferred alpine setup.
For red and ww you want touring gear. There are a few short bootpack/traverse to spots but most is a walk and there.s some that doesn.t start with chair access. If you like to tour you.ll be bummed to not have it. Check out https://www.backcountryskiingcanada....rior_mountains for route details. Paywalled but a great deal to get all the details you.ll want.

Make sure your rental has good snow tires- mandatory and needed in this area. Best to get a 4wd or awd vehicle.

The drives take longer than you think, especially if it.s been snowing. Watch for snow elevation levels and snow pockets. Due to the mtn ranges one of us can get lots and another mtn not so much.

Ww is my home mtn. Am somewhat familiar with red tho others can tell you more about it.

    ...

Hey crew! Great start to the season! Now we just need the snow to start up again!

As the taps have turned off for a while, it’s a great time for groomer cruising and getting shit done.

Well, we are back in the high and dry Sierra. Had a great time in Golden and Revelstoke. Really enjoyed both towns. Lots of good food and laid back. Kicking Horse is rad, our first day had 10-15 cm of fresh and it snowed all day, we just lapped the gondola and stairway to heaven. Massive laps of steep chutes into moguls just so fun. Second day we had sun and hiked T1 a few times, then went to Ozone.

Toured 4 days on Rogers. Skied lots of steep trees, pillows and pow. Skied a bigger chute our last day, great way to end our trip.

I'll be visiting Whitewater and Red this Saturday - Tuesday. First time at both, so if any locals want to meet up for a few laps, shoot me a PM.
