I think I will brave the WROD at Waterville on Sunday that 6 pack bumps and queues shouldn't be that awful.

My first time at SR was Christmas week of 79. 12 of us were renting a house on Conway Lake (NH) that slept 6. Made the hookups “interesting”.

That was the year it didn’t snow - I remember ORDA had to truck manmade snow from Gore upta L Placid so they could do the Nordic events at the Olympics that February. Loon was horrific and I’m pretty sure Wildcat wasn’t even open. We went to SR and it was fantastic. Real snow and nobody there.

Have been back a coupla times and I don’t recognize it as the place we skied that Christmas week.

    Happy Thanksgiving all!

    Thanks for the nerd sniping.

There isn't a good river gage on the Sunday River (I've tried), but the Wild River provides a pretty good analogue most of the time (spotty summer thunderstorms being the biggest exception).

I quickly pulled down and mangled the last 30 years of daily average flows for the Wild, resampling it down to the yearly average August-December flows, and it ain't great.

This year's average flow for the period is around 62 CFS, and the 30 year mean is 167. In the 30 year window, this is the 4th lowest water year with 2001 (40), 2002 (46), and 2016 (56) all being drier.

Yes I know I've read it daily. Wildcat still gets no blurb nor does Sunapee. They don't want to let people ride lifts until Spruce and Mansfield base areas have midseason snow I guess they expected packed lots and midseason crowds this weekend were they to open and couldn't do that with just snow around the chair and lineup. I don't think its corporate bean counting either as even with the worst conditions they would want people at those base areas at Stowe this week spending money.

Wildcat pre Vail was the GOAT early season WROD for New England.

its above the tug on that map… dry hill is the only place gettin’ hit in that graphic . gonna need a southerly drift ta drop anything significant on snow ridge, mccauley or woods valley.
