    Thanks!!
Try Gear Hut in Reno, there are a ton of used and new ski boots in that size range, $50 - $500.

Snagged a pair for myself that were brand new K2 pinnacle 130s for $150. Girlfriend got some sick touring boots for $70. Its hit or miss if you are a bigger size, but at 24.5 you have a lot to choose from.

SB Saturday was in mid-winter shape with chalkly packed pow and no obstacles/rocks on the steepest runs with ski on lifts.

Soft supportive turns on the east side of Lincoln and Judah side-xtry were found after some time in the sun. About 115 cm total depth with 10 cm ski penetration in the shade.

    N. Side of Castle seemed busy with lots of touring parties and a few dogs. Was in great shape and always nice to get back in there before the snowmobiles.

    Damn SB looks fun.

Skied Palisades Sunday with my 13 yr old. Best part of the day was how on top of their gear and ski shit they were.

We started at Alpine considering the upper mountain opening on the Olympic Valley side. No one at Alpine and we logged over 6500' by 10:10am. Then we took the gondola over to Olympic Valley side.

We lapped down to Resort chair four times. My kid was loving flying down the wide open groomer. After I first lap I was playing in the off piste open on that side. It was skiing so well.

Finally made it to the upper mountain and took a few laps on Siberia and then skied the stuff above Solitude and finally finished with a lap under Headwall.

Headed back to Alpine and finished with a few groomer laps.

Duct taped up my car. On yeah, tagged a deer on 80 at daybreak. I was in the passing lane when it leaped over the meridian out of the dark and landed directly in front of my car. I was able to swerve toward the barrier and just get its hind side on my right bumper. Scary AF.

Snow was great. Got warm later but still skied great. Stoked to be back on snow.

    Snowmachine.

I'll check. We just sized up and I have a few pairs sub 25 in the store room.

Only issue is getting them to you. I'm in SC and will next be up to Kirkwood over the holidays.

I might get back to the north shore next weekend depending on snow. I'll PM ya when I did them out.

Sunday at PTOV was indeed fun. Hogsback was skiing particularly well. That deer situation is indeed scary as fuck. Glad you're alright.

North Tahoe mags -- does anyone have recs for a good home inspector? I'm looking to have an inspection done in the next 2 weeks if possible.

Wife and I are headed to ski Heavenly for just a couple days midweek in mid March, already bought flight into/outof Reno. Looks like we will just take the Airporter Bus to South Lake. We are looking to stay somewhere easily walkable to the gondola as we will have no car. It's been close to two decades since ive been in South Lake... what would be the best options for a midpriced room that isnt too trashy. Not married to staying in a casino, but i would assume they have the best deals and are the most walkable for gondola/food/entertainment? Any other tips would be much appreciated.

I don't live in South Lake, but a buddy renovated this hotel, and it's relatively affordable and walking distance to the Heavenly gondola. But I'm no Heavenly skier, so defer to those folks on where is best to stay.

I'm skiing Palisades Tahoe Olympic Valley on Saturday. Do I need to bring snow chains?

This is a VailCorp town. Trashy AND overpriced is the only option.

Limiting yourself to walking distance of the gondola will significantly reduce your choices. Especially since the gondola access point is prone to closing due to wind and/or financial concerns.

Heavenly runs free shuttle buses that circulate downtown, and will bring you right to the base areas. I would recommend staying anywhere near those routes. Taxis, rideshare, and free microtransit are also available here 24/7.

Yes, staying in a casino or the Marriot will mean the least amount of walking to the tourist attractions. The station house in is probably a fair choice, too.

The current recommendation is to install chains on all four wheels while parked with your ass end hanging out into the slow lane. Do this down around Gold Run to avoid issues with construction near Baxter. Then drive 20 mph all of the way to PaliValley for that extra margin of safety.

Leave chains on all weekend "just in case". It's convenient to remove them while waiting in the In N Out drive thru in Auburn.

Don’t forget to use the code #4wheelchains to get your discount when reserving your parking

Stardust lodge is the closest other than the two Marriott properties surrounding the gondola. I would consider the walk from Station House just far enough to be in the PITA zone both ways. Timber Cove is the cheaper of the Marriotts. Forest Suites is also super close on the uphill side.

I second the forest suites. I have stayed their before. The ski tour company I work for uses them all the time.

Yeah..... Current conditions are "character building."

I'm guessing it was better early in the day when the mountain was getting sun. It was in refreeze mode when I skied today.

There were pockets of fun snow mixed with rock hard snow and rocks. Early season stuff.

You put some thought into that. It's almost like you've seen people do it.

Think we stayed there a coupla times, back in the day.
Weirdest thing was giant rooms, but a tiny hot tub in an outside walk way.

This is mostly a celebration trip, and not really a pure skiing trip, so we were thinking something that was beyond just a nice cleanish room to sleep for the night (our usual motel route). If anyone has experience at the casino/resort properties (Ballys, harrahs, harveys, margaritaville, etc) which one has the best breakfast buffet, view rooms, live entertainment, etc? I hate gambling, but my wife would be a video poker addict if she lived in nevada so we will probably spend an hour or two on the casino floor, etc. From what i briefly saw online, pricing for Forest Suites was ~$170ish, and "view" Rooms at Harrahs were ~$200ish so not a huge difference, but how janky is harrahs/harveys these days? Any reccomendations on the best walkable restaurants for dinner, or on mountain lodges for lunch (or are we talking $100 for 2 adult lunches and 2 beers?). We are looking to be bougie... but still on somewhat of a budget.
