I have so much stoke etc from this season that I can't post because of the forum bugs - it took me like three tries on two devices to even be able to post this - let alone trying to upload media and get it to work properly,

Still can't get pix to take...
I was thinking similar conditions to last few days for weekend. But Cin just pointed out it's getting fair bit colder, with chilly overnights. Refrozen ruts and chunks?
    Or sugar/corn/sugar?
Can't be any worse than the deep, knee breaking mashed potatoes on Friday

I'm going skiing tomorrow. Can't wait. Been a few weeks and some time on south Florida.

Hey, ya Palisdaes skiers, send me a PM after you renew to help get some maggots on snow this winter. I would say less than five minutes of your time, but not with the way this forum is shutting the bed. And if you are new to skiing up north, send me a PM before you buy and the group could help you save almost enough for an on hill lunch.

Hoping for the right combo of cold freeze, April sun and east wind for a fast morning and not too sloppy afternoon. Put the yellow wax on

Ott - I tagged you on Facebook - sorry if that wasn’t cool, but people were asking about the ikon group buy and all of that with the forum not being reliable. Not sure if you saw that or not.

$25 tix at DSR with a pass from another mtn.

Ski free on 4/27 if you wear a costume.

    Moms ski free on 5/11.

The snow was decent there last Friday…

Ought to be good spring skiing. pretty hard freeze Thursday night, and did not get soupy Friday. Will be cold again overnight, but warming much quicker. Sunday looks warmer. Know your aspects and follow the sun. Also think about where the reflected energy goes. Some snow picks up reflections and will be meltier. Corn is ripe. Go harvest some.

A note on freezing... I've always looked at the low temp, but a few weeks ago we had 42 degree low, and hard frozen snow. Yes the sky was clear, but I usually give that -5 degrees credit at most. So, 42-5 = 37 degrees and there should have been no freeze. So I did some reading, and the dew point is also important to look at. Dew point was below freezing. I've also been looking at wet bulb. Since snow is wet, the wet bulb is likely more important than the dry bulb to determine refreeze - wet snow should "see" the wet bulb temperature. Added note that official temperature is ~5 feet above the ground, so the temperature next to the snow can be colder, especially on a still night. To summarize, looking at temperature and cloud status is not enough and I didn't find a good answer, just some hints I don't have enough experience with.

Ghettos was excellent yesterday. 5 high T laps. While the top, right under the ridge never really softened, the corn was perfect from just below down to the lift. Not sticky at all.

I like how they run Sherwood until they close High T and then open Scott. The groomers off Scott were perfectly corned and untouched at 2pm for some sweet hot laps before hitting the bumps down Scott Chute that were also primed.

I was planning on KW but when I woke up and checked winds and temperature I decided to head to a hill with less north facing.

Word was OV side was still all firm at noon. Not sure if that was true, but ended up never getting over there to check. Thinking West Face might have been good late in the day.

Has $79 half day tix from noon until 6pm for *Fri 4/25*
?? Hold on now! ?? $60 day tix for Tahoe area pass holders! Show pass at ticket window

This Sunday is looking tasty. My kid and I were considering a day trip, but then they went and split open their chin yesterday. Originally I was hoping for corn, and then just maybe sun and a fresh inch or two topper, but its looking like its trending toward minor powder day. Lets keep going in this direction.

group price for pass buy will go up in May. PM or email soon for best pricing. Kids price is still low until then.

    ^^^ That's awesome!
Just had a great spring afternoon at Mt.Rose. They even had the Chutes open, which I wasn't expecting. Lovely easy-skiing steeps.
Not really looking forward to tomorrow's temp drop. Hope for some dust on crust/loud pow?
    Or that they groom everything...

Another nice afternoon for skiing. No precip. Cold out, but snow not really crusty.
Groomers were smoove. Otherwise, some surprisingly big suncups here and there.

Family life kept me home today. Please share that it was not worth skiing at the resort today. Too many people. Heavy mashed potatoes. Tracked and firm by 10AM.

I did see the KW stake at 11" and then settling to 9", and then looking like maybe another inch over night. I'm sure there is some decent snow to find BC. Might try to get my kid out to tour this spring if this is a real reset.

A fair bit of nice snow is available up high. I was really surprised how if felt like winter on the upper mtn. Below sibo it really started to change to warm snow but was a nice day out there.
Just wish granite opened I don’t know what the hold up was but it didn’t look like they were even trying over there.

I hit DSR back in 5/3 as it was my last free Saturday before I started my summer gig slinging produce.
It was overcast all day and the snow was funky, but it was fun nonetheless.
The upper mountain and backside were like my own private Idaho, as it was largely myself and two fellow coaches from NS schussing about.
Ended the day with beers and pie in the lodge.
What a gem of a spot.

Cinco de Mayo found me and the same couple I skied with at DSR hitting up Sunrise Bowl.
We had planned on Mt Rose/Tamarack, but scrapped that due to the overnight freeze and high winds up there.
It was windy up on SRB, too, but we scored some sweet corn on both “Wonka’s Wave” and in “Oompa Loompa Bowl” (iykyk).
While I have frequented this zone for years, it was only the second time my buddy Felipe had skied it and it was the first non-resort skiing for his lady Margo. She doesn’t have BC gear, so she boot-packed the entire day like a champ/beast.
First run she was screaming and giggling like a jovial banshee. Made my day that she had so much fun. Snow was insanely good and infinitely better than what we three had skied at DSR two days earlier.
