Mexico ranks about as high on my priority list as skiing pow. Win/win.

Thursday was darned good at Squallywood.

Yesterday the snow got better as the day went on. By 3pm it was skiing great. We went bell to bell. My legs aren't quite ready for full rally.

The boy wants to ski today. Eff it, I'm in....

Tomorrow will be a sword fight for bluebird. Let's go!!

Depends on the ski, IMHO. Something that was perfected 10-15 years ago and in great shape is worthwhile - - DPS Lotus 138s, for example. Or ultra rare, like Spatulas.

2007 K2 doesn't strike me as that sort of ski, though I've never been a K2 fan.

Yesterday may have been one of the last opportunities to take advantage of all the extra parking at Rubicon

Cars pouring into KW with the Spur just opening. I'd be shocked if much opens today. Chair 9 on schedule for 9am. No ETO otherwise. Not super windy in-between the gusts but the gusts are insane.

Hope to make a few turns out there today. Just stoked to be in the snow. I styled out the path last night and if the mountain does not open today, the snow sculpting will be off the hook in a few hours. Gotta get that sled running early so it can firm up.

    Bombing since about 7:15.

well, some people must have cancelled their parking for tomorrow or Kirkwood released some spots or something. I was able to get a spot. $20 ski tax!

Haven't been to Kirkwood yet this season, and looked at the parking FAQ, but have to create an account to see more details at the 3rd party parking site. Have a few questions if anyone would care to respond...

    1) Do they check for a parking reservation on the way in? If so, where? Out at Hwy 88? On the way in/at Timber Creek?

    2) If they do check, do they stop checking at noon? Or do you just park and risk getting a ticket if you do so before noon without a res?

    TIA.

    6 opened a bit ago.

Thick whipped cream cheese frosting. Not terrible and will ski better as it gets cut up. Even the trees are thick.

I think they check at the lots. There is for sure new signage. We took the shuttle over today so don't really know where they check. It looked like the pay lots had attendants at them. So maybe they scan there.

Parking is free and does not require a reservation after noon.

I saw if you arrive at 11 and find a spot someone has left, should be no problem. But it's maybe a gamble for 45 minutes.

If they are still parking out the resort because this new process slows everything down, then they would likely be still checking st 11.

Unless you pay or carpool there are very few spots to park. 3rd TC mud lot and out near 88 and at the Inn. Everything else is pay, breed or bring a hitchhiker parking only.

Pretty surprised and happy 6 opened today. Great snow. Some of the stormiest conditions Ive seen a resort be able to open in. We had to leave at 1 to get back to carson for something and the drive was gnarly, truly zero vis multiple times. Sounds like they shut the road down shortly after, I would not have wanted to be on the road with any traffic.

As far as parking I think they just wander the lots checking parked vehicles, no one asked if we had a reservation and for what area when we came in.

Yesterday and today were pretty damn bueno at The Star.

Quite a few Palisades folks “slumming” at the hill, too, due to wind hold at their mountain…

Afternoon turns on 6. The wind chef showed up and spread that cream cheese into a buffed out goodness. I kept finding the snow better than expected. Monte's main bowl down the left was better than expected.

Not really snowing right now but it was twenty minutes ago. I almost saw the sun around 3.

Sold out parking. Half the mountain open and some of that seems like delayed.
There should be a contest for who gets the longest line photo

Anyone want to make bets about KT opening this week. No reason to keep it closed except finances at this point. I predict a Friday opening because fuck the locals.

Ah yes--the locals blaming the resorts for saving the good stuff for the weekenders, and the weekenders blaming the resorts for saving the good stuff for the locals. Same as it ever was.

And few would pay for parking on top of a season pass for half a day of tracked out skiing.

Are powered paragliders allowed to land on the mtn. Might be the new way to stay out of traffic.
