Truckee: Donner memorial State Park and Donner lake.
Also, If you do make it to Angel lake, you definitely want to be fairly awake once you pull off the interstate as it is a twisty exposed drive up to the lake

Plenty of vets in Truckee. Donner Truckee Vet Hospital open on Saturday. No one open on Sunday.
Sacramento Animal Hospital is your best bet in Sacramento.

She has an abscess. Going to need to get it opened and drained once I get to Petaluma. We have antibiotics for now.
Angel Lake was nice, I just wish I could sleep better when I camp.
Anyone want to run their pups at Donner memorial Park? I should be there in around 3.5 hours maybe less.

There will be 20+ pups there for you to frolic with. Hopefully no rangers.
My pup is not friendly so I don't take here there But everybody else seems to...
Also, made in Tahoe craft fair is at Palisades today, I'll be there ...
Not far down the road from interstate 80/Donner/truckee if you want to bask in the glory of Palisades for a few minutes

And it is a dog friendly event, on leash, if your dog is well-behaved around lots of people and other dogs.

Lol, I don't know how I became the Truckee ambassador in this thread, i am pretty antisocial IRL.
But I spent a lot of my early ski days at hunter (HS ski bus!) so your username strikes a chord.

Ha. Awesome.
I didn't mention that Daisy got bit by a Boston terrier on Monday and at first everything looked fine but I guess this morning it blew up. And for the record: both dogs were on leash. At the time it happened I could barely find scratches, but maybe there was a tiny puncture. I kind of just want to get this drive over with. I've never seen so much sagebrush in my life.

Desert drives can be monotonous But maybe you will feel more excited as you roll up into the Sierra after Reno back into the trees....
Made in Tahoe @ Palisades is a 15 -minute drive off the highway, and then from there it's only a few more minutes to dip your toes in lake Tahoe...

I'm at Craft and Logic in Truckee now. I forgot how ridiculously expensive everything in California is, including feeding meters on the weekend. My dog's face looks ridiculous, but otherwise, this is nice. If windy.
Thank you for enjoying my travel blog. Will check back for advice on the return trip which will be interstate to Dillon, MT and dropping in on my sister-in-law on the way home.
