DPS Pagoda tour 106 alternatives
Partner got to demo these and really liked them, but even with the ~sick discount~ they're running now, they're still $1k skis.
Surely there are some better options out there or do I need to become a dentist?

BG10tours8 will bring you under the 1k threshold for some amazing touring skis, but... still a lot of monies at just below.
BMT109s are fucking amazing too. Buy from sport bittl.

There are very few skis that perform as well for their weight from a construction standpoint as the DPS Pagoda. I’ve tried a fair amount and haven’t found any besides the Volkl V Werks. Heritage Lab and On3p are great for their weights as well but have limited short size options.

DPS Pagoda tour 106 alternatives
I’m gonna throw a comparison out there that might work, the armada locator 104. They’re out there for super cheap right now and the 170 seems pretty comparable to the pagoda 171. Now i haven’t actually skied either of these so take my words with a grain of salt here, but i’ve heard good things about the locators and they’re under 400 bucks right now so it might be worth a try

Moment Sierra tour is onsale. Only 1 179 left but that brings the waist up to a 104. Skis a tad shorter.

I'm no dentist, but I got a past year's model of the Pagoda 106 on sale and I have no regrets. It punches way above its weight and handles variable conditions well. I did break it smoking a rock, but DPS hooked me up with another pair under warranty.

Unfortunately, I had to mail them to get approved for a warranty. It was a cracked sidewall that was later determined that there was a manufacturing defect.

Ah, no worries - thanks for the reply.
I am kinda curious to find out if the pagoda construction is real or if it is just marketing spin. The bi-phase bamboo-poplar construction that was said to be in Koala118s does not seem to have any bamboo in it, just poplar - based on me making a pair of replaced-under-warranty (that the local importert wanted me to kill, not send back) K118s into shot skis.
Sorry for the slight trail derail here.
