Well apparently they were the only ones in the tournament. At least that was the impression I got. With a couple of guest appearances by Brazil and Italy so we could see people falling.

Unbelievable conditions. Also, in 20 years of watching big wave surfing I've always heard it pronounced Cho-poo, to the point of even abbreviating it to Chopes, but all the NBC talking heads are pronouncing it like it's spelled.

I don't watch surfing outside of what I see on TGR's socials and even I thought "Cho-poo" is how its pronounced. Did a double take when I heard NBC saying otherwise.

As far as I know Polynesian is fairly similar to German in pronouncing the Letters so I think nbc should be correct. An a is an ah not ae and so forth. An o is oh and not like the oo in too.

I don't think the wsl hat cares much about pronounciation.

I think teh-ah-hoo-poh-oh (to roughly translate that into freedom language) is correct.
It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

So you're saying a bunch of stoner surfers have been pronouncing it wrong all these years!?

Have you ever skied a couloir? Ya know, a "cooler".

Just make em all watch this video. (They should have already.)

Speaking of surfing, an amazing still was posted earlier, but for those who haven't seen it this ride and finish was pretty amazing...

    Going forward...

After his agonizing victory a few days ago in the XCO event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, reaffirming the gold medal he won in Tokyo, Tom Pidcock is already focused again to face the road race event that will take place next Saturday, August 3rd, where he is positioned as one of the top contenders for the win.

Any gymnastics experts here? I've noticed that most of the female competitors (or the top ones, anyway) do vaults where they enter from a round-off onto the vault, but I've yet to see one of the males do that. They all seem to spring directly onto the vault.

Upper body strength and higher horse?

I think some floor exercise specialist male gymnasts sometimes do Yurchenko/round off type vaults?

So…45 years ago I was a college gymnast. Back then it was a deduction if you hit the horse low, meaning you had to pre jump and get your heels up before touching and pushing off. Anyway, I just say this because the rules subtly change almost constantly and the points/valuation change almost constantly, so it’s hard to keep up.

It certainly wouldn't surprise me if part of the reason women are doing certain vaults is because Simone Biles started doing them and everyone else followed, but I don't know enough about the history of the event to know if that's true.

Handball is for wimps. Dodge ball needs to be an Olympic sport. Just remember the 5 D's of dodge ball, "Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge."

I feel like dodgeball has more of a place in the Olys than breakdancing. Since when is dancing a sport? It also seems like all the newer sports that have been included are judged sports.

Do they have Ice Dancing still in the Winger Games?

Agreed, olympic level dodgeball sounds like an outstanding addition to the games. Maybe a dual sport combo w piss drinkin

Im late to the comments sections but -

I love Snoop, but when did he become our country’s mascot?

The “prime time in Paris” is unbearable. So many commercials. I’ve been loving fubotv, watch any event for a few days after it happens.

Mens mountain biking was amazing, bmx freestyle was fun to watch. Lebron is a beast. The Olympics are awesome

When he signed on to be a judge on The Voice.
