I'm using Express VPN, it lets you pick your country, but Canadian coverage is a thousand times better than the BBC, and I I think my fragile American ego couldn't handle the Australian commentators dunking on the American swimmers if I was to try their coverage.

I just signed up for a month, but it's within a few bucks of peacock, so no real benefit if the peacock coverage is good

I found somebody’s synopsis of what I had read while it was going on and…why would you be upset with this?

To French people, Philippe Katerine is a national treasure. He’s a singer, actor, and comedian. He wrote the song he sang during the Opening Ceremonies as a critique of violence among humans.

The concept behind his performance celebrates joie de vivre, light-heartedness, beauty and joy in natural things and the natural world. He is portrayed as Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and celebration, and he is painted blue to represent Earth, the blue planet (and perhaps also as a reference to The Smurfs

Watched mens gymnastic team finals. They showed all the USA routines and scattered routines from other teams with a heavy emphasis on falls and other screw ups, esp by Japan and China, giving the impression that the US was killing them. The Chinese and Japanese routines were on average harder enough than the US that they could afford to screw up and still beat the US, which was ecstatic to get bronze. (What do you call a bronze medalist? Loser.) I get the impression that after adding up the degree of difficulty of all the routines the experts have a pretty good idea within a place or two the final standings before the first routine. Nice to see Japan beat China.

It helps to watch with my gymnast/coach/judge wife doing commentary.

Watching futbol (Spain vs Egypt) ad there are no announcers.

And I think I prefer it to all the inane chatter.

I'm seeing stories about some of the swimmers testing positive for COVID. Just a few now, but you know it's going to get worse. All those athletes in close proximity at the competition and in the Athletes' Village. This could get bad. I hope people start masking up!

    Definitely liked the no-announcer match.

Now watching the USA/GUI match - nice free kick by Mihailovic.

Another viewing option is CBC's Gem app. I have yet to try it. Not sure if it is only accessible in Canada though, but that won't be an issue for the vpn users.

NBC is unwatchable to me. I love ya Snoop but you'd think USA is the only country competing watching their coverage.

Track and Field is coming up... Looking forward to some WRs, hopefully the women's 800 finally gets broken.

And I'll point out the obvious, track and field athletes are the most beautiful human beings on the planet. It's just ridiculous.

Can't argue with that. And I said it three years ago, I'll say it again - any one of these women rugby player could absolutely kick my ass.

The two men's basketball games I watched yesterday sounded like they were being announced by the local public access channel. It was awful.

Surfing third round was fun in double overhead teahupoo.

Germany even sucks in the medal rating these days( wirst ever apparently?). Is there anything we're not bad at?

I love finding myself getting dialed into sports that I don't normally see or even fully understand. The table tennis, MTB, 3 x 3 basketball and rugby have been highly entertaining.

Table tennis is excellent.. Watching a Swedish kid beat the number 1 rated player was wonderful.

It’s going to be a great series of Finals for T&F; lots of good storylines and potential WR outcomes. Stoked!
