I didn’t like break dancing either, but then Canada won, so I now believe it should be a recurring event.

The one thing I missed during the Paris Olympics was this...

Heard bits and pieces here and there, but it wasn't the goto music like it used to be.

Expanding Netflix series SPRINT to more events seems like a no-brainer: cheap content from desperate attention seekers with recent exposure. If Noah's signed on for another season maybe that cuts into his availability?

I made it about 30 seconds into a breakdance, not for me, maybe it's a kiddie thing
Men's street is skateboarding. Nyjah Huston and Jagger Eaton had 1st and 2nd iced until the defending champ from Tokyo, Yuto landed the sickest trick I have seen, the same one he was trying to land basically the entire best trick segment.

Did you really think I was talking about breakdancing?

I mean, its tough to compete with having the freakin' EIFFEL TOWER directly behind the event you're showing! As France had for several of their venues

-Trail Running: Just have them run around the XC bike course, jumps and all. That would be awesome.
Those are both very good ideas. Gold medal for you

I thought Fanfare got played pretty regularly. I recall when nbc first took the Olympics from abc and didn’t use it at all initially and it felt really, really wrong. On the opposite end, it kind of pissed me off when NBC played their NBAmusic for the Olympic games they broadcast. That’s just wrong , I don’t care if the entire team is NBA

Because she’s a US born who tried to compete for Venezuela and couldn’t make it, then figured out how to compete for Hungary because she showed up to a bunch of events that awarded her points for finishing a run because the field was small, then went to the Olympics and finished DFL? I mean, you were the one talking about elite athletes and she obviously isn’t, so you have to be a bit cracked to focus on how bad you are?

however bad she is the Aussie is an Aussie competing for oz.

All LA has to do is ensure the even hotter ladies compete, and they can then coast.

Assuming they have superior athletic talent, of course.

    For sure.

When Remco stood of the finish line with his bike with the Eiffel Tower in background….:so freakin epic. Unbeatable.

And having the surfing event in Teahupo’o was also unbeatable. Like having an Olympic downhill ski race on an AK spine face.

Remind me of the old meme:

Heaven is where the French are the cooks, Italians are the lovers, Germans are the engineers, British are the police, and it's all organized by the Swiss.

Hell is where the British are the cooks, French are the engineers, Swiss are the lovers and the Germans are the police, and it's all organized by the Italians.

I think the skiing in Cortina will be great. It’s an annual World Cup stop. The Winter Games are smaller anyway, so we’ll see how the Italians do.

It’s going to be a problem for a lot of Olympic locations. “Summer” does not typically align with waves, especially for locations that sit squarely center hemisphere. That’s probably why the French went to south of the equator, it’s not summer in Tahiti. I assume LA28 will just do HB or Trestles and just deal with small surf. They will save Hawaii as the surf destination for some land locked future US games.

Bottom line is she made it there and competed and that makes her an Olympian. There are lots of athletes who compete for countries other than their own. Granted most with more skill than her, but someone is DFL in every event. She might not be a world class athlete, but apparently she's world class at working the system. I've got no problems with someone doing this legitimately, a bit cracked or otherwise.

Anyone remember the woman from some Muslim country/Swiss finishing school who did multiple stem turns between the gates of an Olympic downhill?

I am somewhat sympathetic to the idea that you want a trip to the Olympics and you work the system to get it. She seems to think that there's no meaningful difference in commitment between her and the other athletes, which is where she comes across a little unhinged.

If you suck you shouldn't be in the Olympics. It's not cool or worthy of respect. It isn't an interesting human interest story. It just means you gamed a poorly designed qualification system. Not everyone who does this is a self-promoting asshole, but it has happened enough times now that we shouldn't be rolling our eyes, not clapping.

I never said it was worthy of respect, but competing at the Olympics does makes someone an Olympian.

there are better female skiers than her on this message board, and notably there are very few Olympic athletes that have attempted to compete for multiple other countries other than their own. You are a trivia guy, how many olympians have attempted to compete for 2 different other countries excluding cases like the former USSR?

Sure, if you want to be pedantic she’s an Olympic skier because she skied at the Olympics. If she were smart and not cracked she’d have injured herself on her first run. Bang, sympathy.

uh, he was certainly good enough. "mom's country" treats their olympians better.

Did any of them compete in the Olympics? My only point is she is an Olympian by definition. She was there and competed. I'd rather not have to refer to "President Trump," either, but I can't deny the fact that he was the president.
