4 straight threes to put France to sleep. My God, Curry was good at the end. It was kind of nice to actually get to cheer for him for once.

Looks like Jordan Chiles is going to lose her floor bronze over 4 seconds. Ouch.

Man what a dumpster fire that whole thing has been... Absolutely CRUSH the poor girl who thought she had bronze at the event, and now give it back to her a week later?? It took a WEEK to figure out that Chiles' coaches were four fucking seconds late in filing their appeal?? are you kidding me

In other "are you kidding me" news, Noah Lyles posted a pic of his negative Covid test today (with the caption "Thank God I am Covid free"). FORTY-EIGHT HOURS after claiming to have tested positive. 48hrs. Apparently, the worlds fastest man also has the worlds fastest immune system.

    Paris 2024 Summer Olympics

All right, I’m an old man and I’ve dated a lot of pretty good looking women, but you walk into a room with basically any of those female track athletes at any event, (like a family party or something where the folks haven’t met her yet), and I’m telling you, the room stops.

Oh and JHC Curry is so fun to watch.

    THAT ... IS ... GOLD!!

On another front, I think we just might be seeing this guy at the closing ceremony.

High/middle school coach here and I hate this stuff. Kids will see this and emulate it. The ball sports have it worse but luckily those sports have refs and they shut down/penalize unsportsmanslike behavior real quick. Track doesn't need this.

What a fantastic last day of track and field and Steph Curry was ridiculous.

blah bla blah. I don't know that was her intention, and you need some attitude to get to that level. I think it is awesome to win with confidence.

So many. Parker Valby might be my winner. But it’s a long list. The Irish 4x400 were all stunners. Plenty more including the pole vaulters.

I’d like to try on a 100 m sprinter for a night too.

Also, The group project quote is fucking genius

And the wemby/Steph pic is iconic

I honestly can’t figure out which track hottie i think wins. It was the stad de candy store all week

Watching the women's beach volleyball semis and finals. Cameraman seemed to be entranced by Ana Patricia's boobs. Everytime she was receiving serve there was a closeup of the intense look on her face, and "incidentally" down her top. None of the other players, just her. I guess that was to make up for the Brazilians wearing shorts instead of bikini bottoms.

The Brazilian and Canadian women nearly came to blows at the net in the thrid set. The PA started playing Imagine and everybody calmed down and started smiling. Very cool.

I'm reminded about what Chris Hollingsworth said about end zone celebrations. He's a conservative white guy--and let's not pretend this isn't about race. His feeling is that it's just young men having a good time and nothing wrong with that. How someone behaves when they win--or lose--isn't a matter of good or evil. It's about cultural norms, and different groups have different norms. Like for example the way certain Dutch soccer plays collapse in agony at the slightest touch, or non touch. I think it's because of the trauma of having been conquered by the Nazis but I could be wrong.

Your point is what--he should have passed? With a defender blocking the passing lane to both of them? Anyway--the play at the end of the game was clearly get the ball to Steph. Curry was the only one playing team ball. Up until he started hitting those threes at the end the USA game was mostly guys playing one on one and trying to beat their man. Which did work out pretty well for Lebron at least.

The women's sport climbing combined final was amazing. Worth a replay watch if you have Peacock, especially the last half hour. If not, here's the eventual winner's lead climb...

Wonder what the Olympics will look like in another hundred years? And what will the people then think of our 2024 world?

Gabby Thomas and Jessica Hull for me… but holy crap everyone else is right in saying there were so many this year. It used to be the soccer players, but it wasn’t even close this year.

Anna Hall anyone? That lady's skin color is amazing, like a golden goddess. Thought I might need to adjust my tv. And she lives in our state . Now I see could just learn to throw a javelin without crossing the damn line she would be good.

But yeah, women's track and field has been really entertaining this Olympics.

Sifan Hassan won the women's marathon yesterday after taking bronze in the 5k and 10k, becoming the first athlete to medal in all three distance events at a single Olympics since 1952. She only had 35 hours to recover between the 10k and the marathon and still ripped off a time of 2:22.55.
