Pretty cringe. The names made it even worse. I made it through one match, "Syssy vs Logistx" or something, then I gave up.

In other news: Gold Medal Soccer! First I've heard that Mbappe isn't playing for France. That sucks, Your best player, and one of the best players in the world (and certainly one of the most fun to watch) can't play cause his pro team won't let him?? BOOOOO

I think they should make it pure U-23 too. It seems weird to make it somewhat about who can recruit the best over-age players. But you're still going to have problems with clubs letting players free. Just in this match you have Spain without Nico Williams (22) and Yamal Lamine (17), probably their best attackers at the Euro, and France playing without Camavinga, Saliba, and Zaire-Emery, At the same time, I understand the clubs' perspective. These guys just spent almost the entire break prepping and playing for their country in an even bigger tournament (the Euro). To have them play a second consecutive tournament that runs right up to the start of the season would mean no rest at all.

US 4x100's both subbing in fast legs into the experience slots. Could have put the people with less practice into 1st or last and they only have one handoff to focus on. Instead they're asked to slot in and handle two passes by running second/third.

I guess this fits with complete denial about the importance of handoffs.

It's not a sport. Calling it "breaking" rather than "break dancing" doesn't make it sport. We need fewer judged sports in the Olympics, not more. I figure the IOC likes these because there's more grifting opportunities.

So in summer luge do they run 70mm or 72mm longboard wheels? Or do they go really big with like a 650b or a 29er?

Ha! Mullet would be the way to go. 29er up front and 70mm rear. It'd roll over the obstacles easier and drift the high speed corners.

Street luge or downhill skateboarding would be a way better addition than breakdancing or even skateboarding, which was pretty cool but requires judges.

Street luge is the shortest path between athletics and opioid addiction. DH skateboard racing FTW.

Breaking isn’t happening in LA 2028. They’re just going to have Electric Boogaloo 1 & 2 on repeat.

Man as aggravating as it was watching the US men blow ANOTHER baton pass (and horribly), it was fucking AWESOME watching total dime-piece Sha'Carri Richardson absolutely crush the final 100 meters of the womens 4x100 - looking over at her second place competitor as she blazed past her, like, WHAT bitch!!? - and then finishing with an absolutely fierce look on her face. That was fucking rad.

So was Rai Benjamin's 400m hurdles win. Finally! Overall a pretty good night for the US on the track I think.

    Paris 2024 Summer Olympics

Sprinters shit talking and antics are annoying and useless. Kills team cohesion - no wonder they mess up in relays.

Yep. Bunch of marketing folks trying to get the younger gen to watch Olympics.
Some new sports are cool. But they are sports.
Break dancing? It’s as bad as ribbon gymnastics. Which has been around for decades.
What’s next. Line dancing comps for the Texas crowd?
    Disco Fever comeback night?

Surfing. Skate park. Bmx. Okay. Maybe. But dancing?

I hate to diss the double o g but damn I can’t stop scratching my head about why he is there. Other than the half million a day.
I do like his color commentary though. Or is that racist?
    Kill all the telemarkers
But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers
    Telemarketers! Kill the telemarketers!
Oh we can do that. We don’t even need a reason
