Send her off for a spa day or whatever she wants to do. You do the concert. Boom. Problem solved.

On the surface that is not a bad idea, but all the R&R acquired during her spa treatment would probably be lost immediately upon seeing me after the concert. I would be experiencing the effects of being exSpherienced, and the Mrs. would be surfing in much calmer waters.
Als, what will be, will be. We'll see

    Yeah! Let’s do it!

I’m at the fountainblue place. There’s a crew of 14 of us going. Most are my old Dead buddies and few wives thrown into the mix. The rest of em felt they needed to be on the floor. Not sure why at that place but I’m solo for the show…if you know of anyone around town that wants to go.

I dont think it'll wear off because the sound is so incredible, even without any visuals.

What is it about the sound that is so incredible? The acoustics or the immersion?

After Thing 1 and 2’s introduction last summer for the Gorge shows, we are heading back for Round 2 mid June with the same crew. Can’t wait…. Thing 2 found one of my old T’s….

It sounded like I was wearing ear buds. Maybe I'm used to the old stadium shows but I've seen very few shows of any bad, anywhere, that could compare.

Which I don’t even understand, the place can play any image or video or whatever. There’s only a billionty possible images on the internet to choose from, maybe some copyright issues?

The screen is 16,000 pixels by 16,000 pixels if you play 'any' video it's going to be a small rectangle on a big wall.

And of course there are copyright issues.

the sound is incredible. There's 167k speakers behind it. That's like 9 speakers per a person that they can directionally aim have different mixes, "move" the sound etc.

    I've never heard it clearer.

In the 300-400's (maybe 200's too) they put the bass lines in the seat, like haptic movement.

They can spray smell throughout the place to match the visuals too- any patchouli scents going on? The smell of piss when they show Haight/Ashbury? Maybe some strong skunk weed randomly to be funny?

Yes, you simply click the 'enhance' button and then they will fit and be hi-res or 'optimized'.

It’s all on YouTube. I’ve been enjoying the videos and John is definitely on.

Listening to Eyes of the World, Bobby should stop trying to sing it. That was just bad.

    Damn.
I was in town for work and was amused at the crowd at our hotel all week & on the plane home on Fri.
Some dudes I was likely at shows in the 80s/90s with, some newbies, all merched out

I have not been, but all the feedback from friends at Phish and talking to randos about these shows say the same.
like a wrap around IMAX screen and I always thought the sound was the highlight there.

Hell yeah, Rev! Getting stoked at all the reviews/feedback I’ve been seeing after this first bit of the run. Going to the 6/22 show and can’t wait for the experience!

ICSC by chance? Our firm threw a party there and most skipped business for the Saturday show.

Not directed at anyone in particular of course; I read something on some Dead page (or maybe Jambase?) that kinda summed up the reunion vibe and why you shouldn’t fight it; it’s like the guy who complained it’s not the same as it was back when they’d play 1 song for 55 minutes, instead moving from song to song, or like how it’s not the same after Jerry died, or that it’s not the same since John Joined, or blah blah blah. Complaining about how it’s not how it used to be is a hallmark of the concert scene and it was never going to be as good as it was when “you” were there. What it is however is a community that has evolved over time and still continues and if you want to get on board and have a good time you can. If you want to be a grump, that’s your prerogative too.

Hey now, it's not necessarily a put down of others if I don't feel like going to one of these things, but it just can't be the same. It's awesome if it works for other people and they want to get on board.

But it sure as shit is just as fine if some don't feel it.

Hey now indeed! Like I said, wasn’t calling anyone out and probably inadvertently left out the obvious third option, “it’s ok to not want to go because you like the memories of when you did go” off the end of my post. I was paraphrasing something I read that kind of summed up the banter that surrounds when these shows pop up.

Live and let live, and enjoy the ride if you go and all that.

Those that have gone, can you paint a picture of expenses for something like this? I want to figure out if something like this is remotely possible. I’m looking for coach, not First class.

This was my primary concern .. protecting the memories.

Turns out making a few more worked in this case. But it ain't the Grateful Dead.
