The Rochester riding is very nice, hardly any mud to be found other than the logging roads connecting the Swans. Out and back from the Ranger station to Swan Dive is 28 miles and about 5k climb, lots of switchbacks. A shorter loop would be Tunnel Ridge to the Swans end at Bingo Brook, climb back up Swan Dive and take Wing Farm Rd to 73>100 back to town. A day could be spent as well on the East side going up Sap Boiler riding up, down and around.
Pittsfield is a great mix of older machine work that have matured into a single track and new hand cut trails, plenty of riding for a day.
Sherburne trails are also close to get another ride in, lots of recent work on the shop loop and the Kent pond trails off the 100 lot.

Ended up in Rochester last week on a mini road trip, rode from Doon’s shop over to the Ranger station, sap boiler/old gents and back to town. We haven’t been riding much this year so that was a solid enough ride. Next day was up at Blueberry State Park and a little MRV hangtime. After that looped it up to Gorham, NH on the way back to Maine to visit Jason at Big Day Brewing, hit up Bethel next day on the way back to Portland.

If you ever make it back to Rochester there is a loop that goes up and all the way around town. I did it a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. The trails are lightly traveled on the east side of the loop and it is a little tricky to find where the trail picks up after some of the road crossings, but it is a good time.Name: 20240914_172234.jpeg

I could have used some squish on this drop. I burped a good 10psi out of the rear tire.

Aqueduct trails and Mt. Peg in Woodstock, VT are a blast and aren't too far off the highway. I was coming back home from Boston last week and knocked out all the Aqueduct trails in less than 2 hours. Definitely worth a detour.

prkr is chunky. not much flow.
bethlehem NH is great. shoulder roll, etc on mt agassiz. food etc at reklis brewing afterwards.
franconia also great. rough cut and dark side and around there.
for easy riding I like franklin falls further south.

In Franklin the Veteran's Memorial Ski Area aka Great Gains has had a bunch of new trail work done in the last few years, mix of machine built and natural single track. Similar terrain to highlands.

I'm gonna do the 50 bike, but driving between Concord and VT and not camping. I'd be happy to grab a beer with whoever after the race.

Any NE mags interested in some Dakine knee pads? Size Xl. A friend gave them to me. I tried them on and realized they are too big.
