    NE 2024- Pedalrooski!

    Let's roll mags.

I've been cheating on VT, riding a lot in Keene to start the season; but just yesterday we opened our trials (all 2 of 'em) here in Jamaica and I plan on checking out the new stuff at Raptor Lane tomorrow.

Word word people- get to shreddin'!

Been riding the closed fire roads in the quiet part of Acadia. Lots of washouts and downed trees making for interesting hike-a-biking.

Still pretty and feels good. Yay endorphins!

Acadia opened Carriage Roads for cycling. Pedaled the single into the hills for some views.

So nice that I broke out the Albino winter legs

I'm loving the 1, 2, 3 bike quiver show off rides, sc. Keep 'em coming. I know there are more cycles on that back wall.

Ha… gotta get ‘em all dusted off and up and rolling. I’m going to try to ride at least 3 evenings a week until November.

Has anyone here pedaled the Super 8 bikepack route in VT? I am eyeing for my August adventure. Wondering about bike choice.
I have a newish Giant Defy Advanced. "Endurance" bike that could fit gravel tires.
And I have a SC Tallboy set up with 2.4 tires for singletrack.
Which would you set up? I have some bikepacking stuff, lots of UL backpacking stuff. I would need a few specific things like a rack or seatpost rack thing.
Or should I get a hardtail? I would love something like a Trek 1120 but I really shouldn't.

Right now I am leaning towards the SC tallboy and getting a good seatpost bag that plays well with the dropper. I have a handlebar roll thing. A few little bags and a small backpack and I should be good.

^^no experience with that ride so can't comment on bike choice. Can't say enough about how handy Salsa everything cages are, you can clamp them to a susp fork with a little creativity

Oh I like those! Did you get regular or HD version?
I like that I can move it from bike to bike
You just strap them to the fork lowers?

Go with the mtb. “Trail” gets hairy after Burke. I tired with a gravel bike and popped all my tubes before IP. Tried again with my Cutthroat and had a great time. I am planning to ride it in June, will let you know what the south loop is like.

Moved a year ago and have been exploring Stony Brook in West Roxbury—super fun and tech and can add on blue hills not too far away. Great spot to have a 5 min pedal from the house.

Not New England but rode a few days outside Seattle, holeeeee sheeeit. Amazing.

I’d have to look at them, not sure I knew there was different models.

I have a rigid fork with braze on’s but I’ve seen variations on padding the lowers and using hose clamps for max security

A good time flicking the dirt motorcycle through a thousand berms out and back to Swan Dive, the new work in the middle is key to the enjoyment of the ride

Cooled off by 6 for a 90 minute spin, stopped to watch a grouse peck around for a while. Not a single rider seen, nice and quiet.

Perfect night for a ride. Bonus was bumping into a trail crew and being able to help out for a few hours. Ride back to the car was in the dark but I saw this rad moment with the moon over the hay fields. Blackstrap is riding phenomenal right now.

Yo I just signed up for Vermont 50 (run). Anyone else? I put a face to a name last year with @biggins.
If you don't race, it's a great event to volunteer. You can ride sweep for a great ride.

I signed up for the bike race. It will be my first ever bike race. I've done an organized gravel 55 miler and a few longer unsupported gravel rides, but this will certainly be my longest mountain bike ride to date. Felt inspired to sign up this year after my mom, who was a long time volunteer at Vermont Adaptive, passed away last summer of cancer. Figure even if I'm DFL at least I threw a few dollars at a worthy cause. Gonna do it on my trail pistol since that's the only mountain bike I have, and probably throw some more xc focused tires on to minimize rolling resistance.

    Sorry about you mom.
That's great you registered. Just take it easy and don't get pulled out too fast too early. Stop at all the aid stations and enjoy!

I am planning on camping in the field there. Ping me when it's closer and we can try to grill or something the night before.

Suggestions for beginner friendly trails in NH/VT? We will go to Franklin falls today. Tomorrow maybe go to KT and stick to easy stuff... My friend is road biker and trail runner but new to MTB.
    Franconia area.
    Thanks and happy trails.

Green Woodlands is pretty beginner friendly. A bit more elevation than Franklin Falls, but is 100% machine built, so it rolls pretty fast and easy. Definitely worth checking out if you've never been. And I'd be happy to meet any mags and share a beer or a puff post ride at the VT50
