How much life/days to you tend to get out of your Booster Straps before they need re

Just curious what others are getting out of their Booster Straps. Im finding (with the ‘expert/race’ version) that I get about 100-150 days before they start to noticeably loose their elasticity, and begin to behave more like a standard power strap, ie less range of motion and less rebound.

Also kinda wondering how much the age of the strap plays a role in their performance, as far as how much the rubber (or whatever the material(s) used for elasticity) just simply breaks down/degrades over time (and/or perhaps from environmental exposure), as one might expect it could.

How did you come up with this statistic? Did you replace your shells and try the old booster on them? Or did you also have 100-150 days on the shells? I’m just curious because maybe it’s also the shells breaking down at that point too.

Definitely lots of factors but they do break down in that time frame. I find the elastic gets clapped out and really soft. Then you have to tighten it a lot to get support. At one point I could imagine it getting so clapped out it has zero elasticity like you describe.

It is one of the reasons I recommend everyone gets the world cups. They are still dramatically softer than a rigid strap but they do have the flex limited band so they don’t get clapped out as fast.

I been using the WC Booster straps for at least 10 yrs I never even thot about them going flacid and i can't see replacing them

but I do agree just get the WC's which I did not find all that hard to flex

I had my WC Boosters for over ten years before I gave them away. The elastic portion is pretty stout and I never worried about the performance failing on any level. I don't think the straps new owner thinks about it either.

Don’t the WC have three straps vs whatever softer version at two straps?

Anyway— 10yr WC booster here. I don’t feel any weakness aside from me exposing that my boosters have been on like four boots at this point.

I probably have 6-700 days on mine. They’re still doing something, but a gradual loss of performance is easy to miss. This is a good reminder to replace them over the summer.

I've probably have 500 days on mine and have to tighten them as hard as I can to the point there is no give left, so they have basically become regular power straps. Thanks for the reminder to get some new ones.

The only difference between the WC and the next level down is that in the WC version 2 of the elastic bands are stitched together.

World Cups and Experts both have three elastics that equal the same flex, however, World Cups have a rigid band that kicks in after a bit of elastic travel. This is the same concept Atomic uses with its dual strap professional but Atomic lets you adjust when the rigid band kicks in.

How much they bag out is probably dependant on how tight you wear them. I wear them tight and find that the elastics become puckered when they get soft. I find them all too soft (probably ski too forward) and now use the Atomic dual strap pro. I fully cinch the lock out velcro strap and I still find it considerably softer than a rigid strap. It gives a nice balance of support and ease into the flex, although the strap is a bit chonky and the XTD release tab is a piece of garbage.

It was my understanding the WC just had more (3) neoprene straps than the others so just get the WC cuz it was the same price and if its too stiff you could cut one strap

I replaced my Atomic dual strap with a wc Booster and the booster provided much more retention and rebound.

I was flexing through the dual strap, then the hard strap would kick in and I’d over flex the bottom of the Hawx ultra 130. This was the newest version Hawx and I had to have major heel work done to even make it skiable when flexed. It is the only boot I’ve ever needed heel work. The wc booster made it skiable but only when it was pulled really tight.

I gave up on the hawx in nearly new condition. I think real world testing at atomic would have prevented this model from ever going to market. Top of the boot may be a 130 flex, but the bottom is like a 100, the plastic is way too thin.

Am I crazy for not liking elastic power straps? Way too soft off he top makes the boots feel vague. I replaced the dual boosters that came on my Raptors with a solid cam style strap which has definitely been an improvement for me

On my bc boots I'm using voile straps, tightened over the inner boot. They work as well as booster straps, plus they can be used in an emergency
