I'm right between a medium and large Smith helmet (i.e. Smith Vantage medium is too tight, but swimming in a large). Wouldn't mind trying this. Do you know how the sizing compares to Smith? Does POC fit small or true to size?

The M/L fits true-to-size. I wear a medium Smith and don't need to adjust it, POC helmets in the M/L size I have to use the dial adjustment a little to get it snug. I'd dare say you have some room to play with like me, and use the dial to snug it home. For you, I think the POC XL/XXL would be the same issue as a Smith Large
