    What ski am I?

    - approx 106 underfoot
    - mostly directional, rocker-camber-rocker
    - either wood or wood and metal
    - not super thick but definitely damp (you know, the damp light ski)
here's the kicker-- 173 to 175 straight tape pull

    thoughts?

I need something between my OG billygoats and my 2011 volkl auras

Head Kore 105 has fit that billing well for my wife for years. Not sure how their lengths line up to the straight tape pull for you.

The 177 will pull to 174-175 if I had to guess

Not light though, right? 2230g for 177.

That's a very close description to the Lib Tech Wunderstick 106 in a 178cm length.

Yeah, ski doesn’t feel heavy when you ski it though. Plenty damp though.

I think you should take a serious look at a secret or just a get a 176 Corvus.

You say Auras. Female? Try and demo the Bent Chet 100/110. Sweetbippy got the 100 in 172 to replace her Auras and loves them. Says they’re pretty stable for how light they are. Maybe the 172 110

As long as OP is ok with light, this is the choice.

LevelNine has a great deal going right now on 2021 FX106 HPs. Directional, apparently pretty light for their strength. Stiffer in the tail than the tip and default mount is pretty far back.

I'm not sure about the straight pull, though. Listed length is 176. Most of the straight pull lengths on Kastle's seem to be just under their listed length, so I suspect that these would hit the upper end of the range for you, though the review pair for Blister measured at 183.9 for a stated 184, so pretty close and closer than other places I'd seen.

I have a pair of Corvus that I pulled the bindings off of. Maybe I'll remount them and see why I pulled the bindings off in the first place.

Thanks for all of the suggestions- I would not have thought of a number of skis mentioned here!

well there you have it!! i wouldnt be afraid to mount it +1 if you are worried about the length at all, but the lack of camber and progressive mount makes it ski a little shorter anyway. let us know how it turns out, i have faith!

PS try the corvus before the mantra, it skis easier for sure.

Yeah I think the reason I didn’t love the Corvus was it felt “dead” to me (aka no springy camber to play with.) - this is according to Auvgeek who always remembers better than me.

That gen mantra is the same as the aura just different top sheets. Buying them as a backup pair as that’s easily my second favorite ski of all time, just behind the OG supersize billygoats, and I’m on pair 12ish? of aura/mantra for fast and firm conditions/ rock skis. Unfortunately I severely chipped the top sheet on my most recent pair last weekend.

    172 M-Free 108.
    171 Woodsman 108.
    176 Countach 110.

OP should also mention that she doesn’t like progressive mounts.

Scott pure 109ti pro, it has nice pop, still blows through anything on the edge and it is relatively light. Although you are bit between sizes. It does require quite active skier, feels dead and planky if you're just sliding around.

very directional and very stiff tail. Badass ski for someone with excellent technique that wants to stay forward even in steep technical terrain.

Another vote for the 172 MFree 108. Skis like a skinny BG with a bit more "pop".

I haven't yet met a Kaestle I didn't like but I haven't skied any of their stuff from the last 2 yrs. I don't know if I like a really stiff tail persay. I don't know that I'd classify my technique as "excellent" but I do really enjoy a stable, precise, predictable ride that feels like it has some metal and camber in it.

well you guys seem to have some consensus going... I've got a good line on a very cheap new pair of these so I will very seriously consider.

Why are you selling? I know jesski is looking for contrarian opinions on the MFree 108.

They’re not mine, sweetbippy’s. She likes them a lot but they are pretty heavy for her. She likes the Bent Chets better, lighter and not as cumbersome for her. Same length.
