    DIY Freeride Spacer

Looking to add an ATK-esque freeride spacer to some Marker Alpinists AND MTN's.
ATK discontinued the universal AL05 spacer....so it seems I'll have to go the DIY route.
Does anyone have a more elegant solution than using a cutting board or some misc plastic? Would love some micro adjustability that the shims in the ATK model provide.

I used an AFD from an old look p14. With an Mtn with no heel track, it was the exact right height. I cut the baseplate of the toe piece in half so there were two screw holes with the AFD. Super clean, doesn’t hold snow.

Many other AFDs offer a good solution too.

if you have contacts/access to someone in Italy there's still plenty shops carrying the original AL05 at a great price as well.

pretty small mom-and-pop kind of shop but totally legit.

I'm currently using a pair of AL05 and purchased an extra set for 25 euros.

A note on the Al05: I used a 1/4” spacer on my heel and still had to sand down the base to make it work with the Marker Alpinist.

I’m using the ATK universal spacer with my Alpinists and skorpius II boots, had to adjust it down to nearly the lowest setting but fits fine. However it’s a bit too tall with my Maestrale boots.

    Custom AFD spacer

Been working on a custom Freeride spacer with an AFD, for fitting under low stack height bindings. Have all the files and a writeup here: https://github.com/asagilmore/freeride_spacer. If anyone is interested in getting together to do a bulk order to save some money let me know.

Very DIY, but I fashioned these spacers for my MTN using plexiglass. Don't know how durable they would be for everyday use but the heel of my boot sits perfectly on top. Skis mainly are my rock skis not my main touring skis so the setup works for me.

Nice work! I'm wanted something like this. How much has it cost you to have made?
