Helmet time for pointy-headed dummy
Looking for a new lid, just trying to find some real beta instead of marketing copy about how it "fits great". Replacing a Giro Range Mips, which has been the best fitting helmet for my skinny noggin. The conform-fit shell actually fits my head, but it's hot as ballz.
Stipulations:
-Actual ventilation. I sweat, I work in my helmet, I live in the banana belt, I have never been in a situation where I've needed to close the vents on any helmet. -20 and I'm still sweating. It's silly.
-My head is not even oval-shaped, it's just completely oblong. Smith helmets literally make me feel like a spaceball. Add to that being bald, and I have a really hard time finding helmets that don't leave massive gaps on the sides of my head.
-MIPS is nice, but I find it impedes ventilation in the helmets I've tried.
I don't need bells and whistles, like audio capability, I just need a safe helmet that fits and keeps my head cool. Not insanely expensive would be a bonus, but it's my brain so I'm willing to spend. When I was racing, I would just downsize and push out the foam in the hot spots, but I have a suspicion that might detract from the actual function of the helmet, who knows.
Any other pointy-headed goons out there with some insight?

I also suffer from the huge oblong head. I try on every helmet I see in hopes of finding something that magically fits. Giro is the only brand which is consistently acceptable. It’s weird, because Giro cycling helmets fit completely differently and don’t come close to working for me.
My current helmet is a Giro Jackson, which fits well enough that I can use a Large. Probably the only helmet I have purchased for any purpose as an adult which wasn’t an XL.

Wish i had an easy nugget for you but I do not.
What i did years ago as a boat builder and ravenous kayaker was to custom build my own helmet. Hand built the plug then made a mold from it. From that i hand laminated the actual helmet shell. Padded and outfitted it to my noggin.
Later i used a US GI helmet as a plug to make a couple molds and that is my current river helmet to this day. Pun intended.
You could in theory gut a helmet and rebuild it to your specs. The standard pilot helmets have custom foam injection for the ultimate fit and protection.
Good luck in yor search!watch out for snakes

Zippy type pin head here. Narrow face with oval shaped skullbone
I like the Smith brand helmets because they fit my dome nicely, smallest of gaps on the temples/ears areas. Currently using a Nexus mips and really like the fit. The boa system snugs the helmet to my shape-O-dome and feels good.
My head has a 59cm circumference and I bought the medium. Sizing says 59cm is the end of the sizing range for medium, but it still takes several turns to tighten the boa so the helmet stays in place and is comfortable. Plenty of vents for me to keep cool

I just went through this this year.
Very oblong head - circumference would put me in the low end of Medium range, but width is extra narrow (wear XS glasses , which is a nice way of the company saying kids…)
After trying on dozens of helmets it was still Giro for me. The only other helmet that was good was a racing POC, but none of the regular ones.
ETA: Specifically, the Giro Tenet fit me best.
