Shape and rocker of the 85/95s turned out AMAZING. The flex of the test skis turned out w/ Comp stiffness (9-9.5 of 10) which we be corrected (8-8.5 of 10) for production. Word! Once I get the testing done, I'll notify everyone with pre-orders in to see if anyone wants to swap into this "Comp" builds, and then if there are any left after that, I'll open ordering up on em!

I would put them at an 8. They are softer than my R99COMPS and a little softer than my monster 82 liquidmetals. I just had a buddies pair in my garage this weekend and flexed them between the two plus I have skied his pair before next to my 82’s.

ah, cool, thank you. I def don't need a 9.5 then. M88 is hard to find a speed limit on. straighter and same stiffness seems pretty likely to top out long after I do.

How would the RC85 stiffness compare to a pre-2016 ish Kastle MX88?

Marshal sez the tester skis rip. My pairs arrive this week and I hope to get a day on them this weekend. I’m sure he’ll post more, but initially it sounds as if these rip every bit as hard as the Comps but with more versatility and surfy feel off piste which was exactly the intent of the design.

Sorry for not posting, I am still in HOLY F body buzz stoke overload stage... trying to be objective is hard when the only words you can find are superlatives.... so read the below with all relevant grains of salt, haha!

Regarding the OG MX88, I would say that the RC85 Comp will handflex similarly, and have comparable top end, but the RC85 is WILDLY more versatile and fun away from manicured groomers. the RC85, for me, carved every bit as well as skis in this class, but it's like a mini renegade freeride ski too. Crazytown.

Regarding the Monsters, I would say that after releasing the manufacturing tension in the laminates, my RC95 hand flex comparably, but out perform the M98, by far, at everything condition I was able to test on a spring day - lazy large radius, snappy mid radius, tight woods, boot top mash potatoes, refrozen, etc. The RC85 hand flexes a notch stiffer than my old M88's, but the RC85 is also incredibly more versatile and fun, and somehow both more rewarding when driven and dramatically easier to ski at a modest pace in whack moguls and that sort of thing too.

For me, both the RC85 and RC95 have this chill, easy, mild manner in slow tech and funky snow, but then just fire up the supercharger and GO once you give em the throttle. I am sending a couple testers out this week for a few extra sets of eyes on them too.

Correct, the stiffness distribution is very similar to the FL105.

The RC95 is a notch stiffer than the FL105 185, but it is also designed for a -10.25 mount (ie +1cm of the FL105), and doesn't have pintail offset, so its (imo) actually a little bit less "fall line or bust" in comparison.

These must be special, indeed. The "mild mannered, but ready to go nuts when pushed... (paraphrasing)" is exactly what I feel about my beloved Monster 98s. You most def have my attention.

I skied the RC85 extensively today, and spent a bit of time on the 95 as well.

Also skied the r99 comp as a comparison.

Wow.

They are everything we designed them to be.

If you’re not over 200lbs you don’t want the stiff flex 85s, they make the r99 comp feel like a toy.

I’ll type more later but the RC85 is a real deal all-mountain technical ski with a GS sidecut that is magically surfy off piste and has no speed limit. It is exactly what I’ve been after for years and years and years. Ski it how you want, no crazy camber or weird torsional stiffness or aggressive sidecut that locks you in to a single turn shape. I’ve never skied an 85 underfoot ski that is so fun off-piste including on 2” dust over a bulletproof crust.

The RC95 is even more stable and damp feeling than the 99 comp with tons of surf and pivot magic yet somehow also super confident on edge.

Think skinny FL105.

^Did you ever ski the original Nobis Inspired? The 88 underfoot 188. Probably not as stiff but just super versatile on and off piste. Your description sounds like it.

Glad to hear I wasn't delusional. Legitamately the most fun <100 and ~85mm skis I have ever been on. Not even close, and not even a fair fight, really!

The Production flex 85 and 95 are going to be madness. Folks are really going to be stoked. Looking forward to adding 175cm 85 and 180cm 95 too. Can't wait for next fall!!!

I've only ever been on two skis that were stiff enough to be scary for recreational skiing and both of them had come of the world cup circuit. Thinking I need this fat guy flex on the 85

I’m 220, I think you would really like the comp flex. Personally I will ski both the (super) comp and the production flex.
