Fourth round:
Stenmark v. Plake
Bode v. Shane
Schmidt v. Herman....hard one to pick, but I think Schmidt influenced more of today's skiers.
Tomba v. Seth"I don't feel tardy"

Jimmy Page: too busy dusting his broom to realize that the fourth round is over, and every one of his picks lost.

Seth is a failed gate basher. Stenmark never failed at anything. He even designed the Saab Draken jet for the Swedish air force.
Putting Maier, a man who wins World Cup races with half a leg up against a man with half a brain who is most famous for something that's not even skiing is also not even up for discussion.Last edited by bad_roo; 09-30-2005 at 09:31 AM.

Roo has 4,600 posts. There is no way he has skied in the last 10 years. I vote his ballot be discarded.

Saucerboy over the Swede. Simply for being Saucerboy.
Hmmm, never thought either of these guys would make the semis. Gonna go with the Hermanator, though. He's on a roll."There is a hell of a huge difference between skiing as a sport- or even as a lifestyle- and skiing as an industry"

I'd much rather watch Shane or Seth ski, I'd much rather party with Shane or Seth, I think both of them kill it and have for years. I'd rather vote for Shane and Seth. And hell, they're even American!
But I can't vote against the two most dominant racers of the last thirty years.*
Stenmark
Hermann
* With all due apologies to Pirmin Zurbriggen and Gincognito.
(Annemarie Moser-Proell shoulda probably been this contest too.)Last edited by iceman; 09-30-2005 at 09:22 PM.

Shane: Ripping skier, base jumper, stream skier, etc.
Hermann: With the exception of Daron, he's the highlight of every OLN downhill.

McConkey*
Hermann
Though I think that McConkey should have lost to Nate Roberts in the first round, but i guess ya'll just don't know. Doesn't matter Nate is still going to win a gold this winter in Torino, so i guess I get the last laugh. haLast edited by BRUTAH; 10-01-2005 at 03:04 PM.

one of my earliest memories of watching ski racing on tv was some documentary on pirmin, with tina turner singing 'simply the best' in the background. you've gotta love those segments that the networks put together during olympics and such that are just dripping in velveeta. shame that herr z did not fare that well in the tourney.

Results:
Stenmark got nine, so of course Shane got nine too.
Hermann beat out Seth 10-8.
Next vote breaks the tie and brings us to the finals.[quote][//quote]

So I have to stay true to my words:
Hermann "Hermanator" Maier
Just watch this video and remember that when this happened he was on course for winning the Olympic Downhill. Two days after the crash he won the Super G. Another two days later he won the Giant Slalom with the best time in both heats.
The man survived a near fatal motorcycle crash and came back to win the Overall World Cup.
And if you have ever watched this man standing at the top of a run - his eyes rolling like mad, the steam coming from his mouth and nose, the contorted expression on his face - you will know that above everything else this man wants to win.Ein Berg ohne Absturzgefahr ist nur noch Attrappe.
