Question Backland carbon / Kingpin compatibility?

A buddy lent me some Backland Carbons to try in my never ending quest to not fail @ AT.

Will these work? Shelf on the heel is pretty tiny.

I skied this combo in the past, it seemed secure to me.

Technically they are not compatible; the Backland Carbon sole is not ISO 9523 (heel is not 8mm deep) . . .

Backland (not Backland XTD) is only compatible with TLT bindings that have traditional pins toe & heel, not Kingpin. The toe & heel "lugs" are only for crampons.

Seen it done, but not techincally compatible, and in my opinion definitely not worth your knees as a sacrifice to Ullr

Yes, I used to have that set up, but you need to install these

If you do add it, doing so will void your Atomic warranty. These boots are so thin, that adding this kind of stuff can potentially compromise the structural integrity of the boot, especially when paired with a binding that the boot was never developed to handle the loads for, and it can lead to failure. Atomic's stance: don't add it and don't use this boot with a Kingpin or similar binding. TLT-bindings only.
