Seems like a significant enough change in the system that it's time to start a new thread. You can find 30 + pages of chatter about the old system, along with a couple of pages of speculation and observations about the the latest iteration over in the 2017 CAST touring system thread.
I am hoping that the new toe design will solve some of the problems I have had over the years - any need an extra 1.0 second ski kit?
Highlights that I have seen so far:
- no more posts, should make mounting less fussy
- new touring toe, might be less prone to failing
- dedicated touring AFD (included, not a $15 option)
- said to be a tweaked brake retainer
- I think the toe puck will be conducive to use with inserts = flat skis again!
- 2nd ski kit is $5 cheaper than the 1.0 version
Looks like the launch came with some slick new website content as well: a Mounting tutorial, and a guide to the AFD options (both included). The "Field Guide" video shows the transition process between skiing and touring.
Eagerly awaiting my tracking number email.
