'any future snow likely altitude dependent and wet'

to josh's credit, after the last event (#2 of 3) he was calling for a possible event first week in april, and here we are...again.

On the bowling front, last week I went with a group of friends for the first time in 30 + years. I used to bowl in leagues but most of the guys had not bowled much. I noticed crazy pin action several times which was crazier because they were hurling 12 pound balls.
After a while a couple of them are talking about strings on the pins and I tell them to have another beer cuz there ain't no way there are strings on the pins and they are seeing the lasers that mark where the pins are. Then I notice it also. WTF!! I start paying attention and sure as hell there are strings coming from the top to the top of the pins. I ask the guy at the counter and he gives me the same look I gave my buddies when they said it. Then i asked the girl and she says yeah, they always have them. but always to her was the 2 years she worked there.

A guy I work with bowls in leagues and I asked him about it and he said it is something fairly new that was implemented as a cost savings because it was cheaper than having people reset and the old automated process was also labor intensive. He said some of the leagues have moved out of houses that have the strings because of the ridiculous pin action. Strings would get tied up on other pins and fly across the lane and wipe out splits. It was really insane. We were laughing our asses off at how crazy it was.

Anybody else bowl lately and notice this? I called a friend who I bowled with in leagues that was a really good bowler and he couldn't believe it so I will make my way back sometime and take a video of it.

I bowled in the basement of a local men’s club , think the wooden lanes dated back to 1904? There weren’t any strings, but I’ll tell you what. Those lanes had more fall lines than most ski hills. It was always amusing when a team would recruit a guy from another alley - he’d come in with a 220 average and quickly be a very frustrated 175. No two throws reacted the same way. I kinda liked it. I stopped bowling years back , missed it a ton for sure. Bowled on a team with all my boys from high school- it made for some very rusty mid week mornings. Certain I’d have been dead by now had I not stopped. Now that I think of it, I should probably go clean out my locker…. Thanks for the reminder.

We’ve got a complex storm system rolling into NE tonight and tomorrow and we will NOT be sidetracked by a protracted discussion about bowling for fucks sake!

Welcome back to the coast with the most. Woods have been in and out, out today due to frozen conditions, back on after this system does its thing.

    Gonna be breezy

Weighing the level of shit I get from my wife to head up for this with a few buddies when I just got back from CO last Saturday. Wife is completely over ski season.... I know the answer I'm going to get here already.

^^ if your wife knows you, she would rather you not be stuck home and miserable, right? in a week, as it warms and melts again, will you be glad you took one for the team? i think not.
promise you'll drive safely, return home with a small token of thanks.

and shit! you were back for nearly a week already.

Lol, already cashed in on the first point 2x this season, but all valid rationale. First went to UT with an OG maggot buddy, plus when VT was looking horribly grim in early March re-arranged my daughters spring break trip to CO instead. So logically fully get my wife's frustration.... got until tomorrow to decide, worst case should be able to get some MTB riding in down here this weekend.

I could talk about ski selection for the next few days or swapping my golf gear back out of the trunk, or I could go on with bowling, your call!
